Deputy Manager -Engine Assembly
Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- Drive man cost control initiatives by enhancing productivity on the production line through continuous process optimisation and effective workforce management.
- Implement comprehensive cost reduction strategies targeting scrap, consumables, and manpower expenses, ensuring alignment with departmental financial goals.
- Lead the planning, monitoring, and management of the departmental budget, tracking expenditures and forecasting resource requirements to maintain fiscal discipline.
- Achieve and sustain an SPR (Standard Productivity Rate) improvement exceeding 90% by identifying bottlenecks and deploying targeted interventions.
- Conduct detailed defects data analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective measures, minimizing quality deviations and non-conformities.
- Perform thorough market complaint analysis, driving resolution processes and monitoring for recurrence prevention to uphold customer satisfaction.
- Lead and inspire the Assembly manufacturing team in achieving control of PQCDSM (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Morale), fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure timely delivery of products in accordance with production plans, coordinating workflow to meet customer demands and internal targets.
- Maintain effective coordination with internal departments, external stakeholders, and vendors to facilitate process improvements and seamless operations.
- Oversee the establishment and launch of new products into mass production, ensuring all quality, productivity, and compliance standards are met during scale-up.
- Adhere to and manage training schedules for both workers and staff, enhancing skills and knowledge aligned with manufacturing best practices.
- Handle daily manpower management by proactively resolving conflicts and fostering a collaborative, positive team environment.
- Review and monitor the performance of subordinates, providing constructive feedback and implementing performance improvement plans where necessary.
- Perform gap analysis on production losses, quality deficiencies, and equipment breakdowns to develop strategic solutions that enhance operational effectiveness.
- Coordinate parts synchronization across different models to optimize inventory management and production scheduling.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology degree specialising in Electrical and Electronics engineering or a closely related field. This foundational education equips the candidate with essential principles of electrical systems, manufacturing processes, and technological integration foundational to the role.
Additional qualifications or certifications related to production management, quality control, or lean manufacturing methodologies will be advantageous and enhance the candidate’s ability to lead complex manufacturing operations effectively.
Continuous professional development is encouraged, including participation in workshops, seminars, or courses which build skills in modern manufacturing practices and leadership capabilities.
General Experience
Candidates should have between three to seven years of relevant experience in manufacturing environments, with a proven track record in operational leadership and production management.
Experience in cost control, quality assurance, and team leadership within assembly or engine manufacturing units is highly desirable, equipping the candidate to meet operational targets while fostering high performance teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional coordination involving production, quality, procurement, and supply chain departments is essential to succeed in this role.
Familiarity with industrial tools, data analysis software, and production planning systems will support the efficient management and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
Critical Experience
- Proven expertise in leading cost reduction initiatives specifically targeting manufacturing costs such as scrap reduction, consumables optimisation, and manpower efficiency.
- Strong background in budget planning and financial monitoring within a manufacturing assembly context, demonstrating accountability for departmental expenditures and resource allocation.
- Extensive experience in analysing complex defect data and implementing effective corrective actions that drive product quality improvements and reduce rework.
- Leadership experience in managing assembly manufacturing teams with a focus on delivering productivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale (PQCDSM) objectives.
- Track record of successful new product introductions including mass production readiness and coordination across multiple departments and vendors.
- Highly skilled in man management, including conflict resolution and performance evaluation, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment.
- Experience with market complaint resolution processes, with an ability to investigate, analyse, and mitigate issues affecting customer satisfaction.
- Competence in conducting gap analyses relating to production inefficiencies, quality losses, and equipment breakdowns, followed by strategic implementation of resolution plans.
- Capability to synchronize parts supply and production schedules across various product models to ensure operational fluidity.
