Production Supervisor

Job description:

Job Purpose

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and compliance with company standards. The role requires managing a team of operators/workers, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring timely achievement of production targets.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Control

SHEET METAL

• Ensure daily/weekly production schedules are met.
• Allocate manpower, machines, and materials effectively.
• Monitor production progress and resolve bottlenecks.
• Team Management
• Supervise, guide, and motivate production staff.
• Assign tasks and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Conduct training for workers to improve skills and efficiency.
• Quality Assurance
• Monitor product quality during production.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Coordinate with the Quality team to address defects and corrective actions.
• Safety & Compliance
• Enforce workplace safety rules and guidelines.
• Ensure all staff use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Reporting & Documentation
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports.
• Record material usage, wastage, and machine downtime.
• Maintain shift logs and ensure smooth handovers.
• Continuous Improvement
• Identify areas for cost reduction, process improvement, and waste control.
• Participate in lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives.

• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Knowledge of production processes, machinery, and tools.
• Problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Basic knowledge of ERP/MIS systems.
• Good communication and coordination skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (preferred).
• 3–7 years of experience in production supervision in a manufacturing/engineering/automotive/industrial setup.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing, ISO standards, and safety norms is desirable.
