Manufacturing Lead - Fabrication

1. Safety and housekeeping

 Enforce PPE use, hot work permits, safe material handling, and plant safety standards; lead safety audits and implement corrective measures.

2. Production and Process Management

 Production management: Plan, schedule, and control shop-floor activities to meet weekly and monthly production targets, customer delivery dates, and utilization goals.

 Execute operations in accordance with engineering file with inputs on fabrication processes (laser/plasma/Oxy cutting, press brakes, turret punches, folding, hemming, CNC bending), welding methods (MIG/MAG, TIG, Spot), and assembly procedures, SOPs and work instructions.

3. Productivity 

 Lead Kaizen/5S/SMED initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve first-pass yield, and lower rework/scrap; implement metrics (OTD, OEE, throughput, scrap%) and drive corrective actions.

4. Cost control and reporting

 Monitor production costs, material yield, labour efficiency, propose cost saving ideas, and prepare weekly/monthly production, quality and KPI reports for management.

5. Quality and compliance

 Ensure adherence to drawing tolerances, GD and T, welding standards (e.g., WPS/PQR), surface treatment and painting specs; coordinate FAI, PPAP or customer-specific inspection requirements; work with Quality for NCR resolution and corrective actions.

6. Technical support and troubleshooting

 Provide hands-on technical guidance for complex fabrication, nesting, material layout, fit-up, tack welding, distortion control, and fixturing; support root-cause analysis using 8D or RCA techniques.

7. Resource and equipment management 

 Manage machine capacity planning, preventive maintenance coordination with maintenance team, tooling/fixture lifecycle, and capital requisitions for new equipment or upgrades.

8. Cross-functional coordination

 Work closely with Engineering, Quality driving deliverables, Planning and ERP (work orders, routing), Procurement (material availability, BOM), and business development (expedites, quality feedback).

9. People leadership

 Supervise, mentor, and develop leaders, operators, and welders; lead training for welding qualifications, machine operation, safe handling and process best practices; conduct performance reviews and staffing plans.

10. Data Analysis and Continuous improvement 

 Conduct periodic reviews of quality metrics, perform data-driven analysis, and drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving techniques (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone, Root Cause Analysis).

11. Training and Capability Building 

 Identify skill gaps and organise training programs to standardize systems, improve performance and build technical capabilities across the team
