HVAC Project Engineer – Job Description
Role Overview:
An HVAC Project Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and executing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for construction or industrial projects. The role bridges design, site execution, and client coordination.
- Key Responsibilities Design HVAC systems (cooling load calculations, ducting, piping layouts)
- Prepare drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and MEP teams
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Handle client meetings and technical discussions
- Troubleshoot system issues during and after execution
- Required Skills Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles (ASHRAE standards preferred)
- Proficiency in software like AutoCAD, HAP, Revit (preferred)
- Project management and coordination skills
- Understanding of chillers, VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, ducting
- Good communication and problem-solving ability
- Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 2–8 years of experience in HVAC projects (depending on level)
- Preferred Experience in commercial/residential/industrial HVAC projects
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and green building practices
- Site execution and vendor management experience
