Job Description

  • 1. Freight Rate ProcurementObtain freight rates from shipping lines, airlines, NVOCCs, and overseas agents.
  • Negotiate competitive rates for imports and exports.
  • Maintain relationships with carriers and vendors.
  • 2. Quotation PreparationPrepare customer quotations for:
  • Sea Freight (FCL/LCL)
  • Air Freight
  • Customs Clearance
  • Transportation
  • Warehousing
  • Ensure all charges are included (freight, THC, documentation, handling, customs clearance, etc.).
  • 3. Cost AnalysisAnalyze carrier costs and profit margins.
  • Compare rates from multiple vendors.
  • Ensure quotations are profitable and competitive.
  • 4. Rate Database ManagementMaintain updated tariff sheets and contracts.
  • Update rate validity and surcharge changes.
  • Keep records of customer-specific pricing agreements.
  • 5. Coordination with OperationsConfirm service schedules, transit times, and routing.
  • Verify space availability with shipping lines and airlines.
  • Coordinate special cargo requirements.
  • 6. Tender & RFQ HandlingParticipate in customer tenders and annual contracts.
  • Prepare detailed pricing proposals.
  • Monitor tender deadlines and submissions.
  • 7. Market IntelligenceTrack market freight trends.
  • Monitor:
  • GRI (General Rate Increase)
  • PSS (Peak Season Surcharge)
  • BAF
  • CAF
  • Fuel Surcharges
  • Inform sales teams of rate changes.
  • 8. Support Sales TeamProvide quick spot rates.
  • Assist sales in securing new business.
  • Recommend pricing strategies for key accounts.
  • 9. Overseas Agent CoordinationObtain destination charges and local handling costs.
  • Negotiate agent commissions and service agreements.
  • Manage overseas rate requests.
  • 10. Reporting & AnalysisPrepare monthly reports on:
  • Quotation volume
  • Win/Loss ratio
  • Gross profit margins
  • Carrier performance
  • Key Skills RequiredKnowledge of Incoterms
  • Freight forwarding operations knowledge
  • Shipping line and airline rate structures
  • Excel proficiency
