Risk Consulting – Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) – Staff / Senior Consultant

 

Description

 

EY's Financial Services Office (FSO) is a unique, industry-focused business unit that provides a broad range of integrated services that leverage deep industry experience with strong functional capability and product knowledge. Within EY’s Risk Consulting Practice, the Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) group provides solutions that can help FSO clients to identify, measure, manage and monitor the market (trading book), credit (banking book), operational, and regulatory risks associated with their trading, asset-liability management, capital management and other capital markets activities.

 

 

Role Overview

 

The IFRS 9 Credit Risk Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the organisation’s credit risk measurement, reporting, and impairment estimation processes. The role involves producing key credit risk indicators, performing provision calculations (both specific and collective), and maintaining robust monitoring frameworks for watchlist, default, and past‑due exposures. The analyst will also contribute to the integrity of the Loss Database and work closely with risk, finance, and business teams to ensure accurate and timely IFRS 9 reporting and regulatory compliance.

 

This role requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and sound knowledge of IFRS 9 impairment methodologies, including EAD, LGD, PD, and staging assessments.

 

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and support the preparation of regular risk reports, including credit risk, operational risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and transversal risk reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery
  • Assist in producing key credit risk indicators, including Exposure at Default (EAD), IFRS 9 provisions (Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3), Other portfolio‑level and account‑level credit risk metrics
  • Participate in data collection, data quality checks, validation steps, and documentation activities.
  • Help ensure the consistency and accuracy of risk data across systems and reports.
  • Contribute to updates and improvements on risk data tools and platforms (Risk Datamart, PowerBI, Excel).
  • Perform data transformations, reconciliations, outlier analysis, and control checks to support the integrity of Basel and internal risk metrics
  • Support the implementation of controls, audit requests, and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather inputs, review outputs, and implement corrections.
  • Assist with internal and regulatory requests, including annual reports, credit risk reviews, or management presentations.

 

 

Domain Skills Required:

 

  • Perform Specific Provision (SP) calculations and reporting by assessing individually significant exposures, collateral valuations, and recovery expectations
  • Conduct Watchlist and Default monitoring, including triggers, staging movement assessment, and reporting of high‑risk accounts
  • Monitor and report on past‑due exposures across buckets (30/60/90+ days), highlighting trends, slippages, and early warnings
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual credit risk MIS for senior management, committees, and auditors.
  • Analyse movements in ECL and portfolio metrics, providing clear reasoning for variances and trends
  • Maintain and update the Loss Database, including default events, recoveries, collateral realisations, and historical loss information
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across risk systems, accounting systems, and reporting tools
  • Support validation, back‑testing, and enhancement of IFRS 9 models (PD, LGD, EAD) as required
  • Demonstrate strong technical expertise and up‑to‑date industry knowledge across financial products, market practices, and risk methodologies.
  • Lead key workstreams within large‑scale client engagements or independently manage smaller engagements, ensuring consistent delivery of high‑quality outcomes.
  • Review outputs prepared by team members to ensure analytical quality, completeness, and adherence to internal standards.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends, regulatory changes, and sector‑specific developments to anticipate client needs and strengthen advisory delivery.
  • Monitor project progress, proactively manage risks, and communicate priorities, challenges, and updates effectively to stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior consultants, fostering skill development, knowledge sharing, and professional growth within the team.

 

 

Qualifications, Certifications and Education

 

Must-have:

 

  • Master’s degree in business administration (Finance/Economics) or CA qualification, with 2-7 years of relevant experience in financial analysis or risk‑related roles.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS 9 impairment framework, including PD/LGD/EAD modelling, staging criteria, and ECL computation
  • Experience with credit risk monitoring, including watchlist criteria, default identification, past‑due reporting, and NPA classification
  • Good knowledge of risk systems, data warehouses, and reporting tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, Python, Power BI, Excel)
  • Working knowledge of Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, and Financial Reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated automation and innovation mindset, with willingness to improve processes and tools.
  • Strong command of written and spoken professional English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.

 

Good-to-have:

 

  • Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, or PRM.
  • Regulatory exposure or experience in areas such as Credit Underwriting, CECL methodology, BASEL III/IV regulations and CCAR.
  • Familiarity with risk‑management systems, tools, or platforms.
  • Willingness to travel based on client or project requirements.
  • Previous project management experience
  • Proficiency in French is highly advantageous and may be required for certain engagements
  • Basic knowledge of Python programming
  • Understanding of banking products, credit lifecycle, and risk policies
