Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (SPM & Conveyors)Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience. In this role, you will lead the concept-to-commissioning design of Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and advanced conveyor systems. You will turn complex automation requirements into robust, manufacturable, and efficient mechanical solutions.

• Key ResponsibilitiesEnd-to-End Design: Conceptualize, model, and detail mechanical systems for SPMs and various conveyor types (e.g., belt, roller, chain, slat).
• Engineering Calculations: Perform critical calculations for motor sizing, gearboxes, structural strength, stress analysis (FEA), and material selection.
• Manufacturing Readiness: Create precise 3D models, assembly drawings, and 2D manufacturing drawings with strict adherence to GD&T standards.
• Component Selection: Specify and integrate standard bought-out parts such as pneumatic cylinders, actuators, bearings, sensors, and drive systems.
• Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, assembly, and electrical automation teams to troubleshoot design issues and ensure seamless system integration.
• Required Qualifications & SkillsExperience: Minimum 5+ years of core experience in mechanical design, specifically focused on SPMs and conveyor automation.
• Software Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo) and 2D AutoCAD.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of fabrication processes, machining operations, sheet metal design, and materials (steels, aluminum, plastics).
• Domain Expertise: Proven track record of designing complex mechanisms, indexing layouts, and automated material handling systems.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering.
