Merchandiser

Key Responsibilities

Sample Development & Construction: Oversee the end-to-end development of prototyping, photo-shoot, and pre-production samples. Actively assist in solving construction challenges on the floor to maintain design integrity.

Fit & Pattern Evaluation: Analyze new design patterns alongside pattern makers. Lead fit sessions, evaluate garment drape, balance, and specifications against tech packs, and provide precise call-outs for adjustments.

Tech Pack & Spec Management: Review and refine technical specification sheets, ensuring all measurements, construction details, and grading rules are accurately documented.

Vendor & Master Communication: Act as the primary technical point of contact for sampling masters, tailors, and external vendors. Clearly communicate fit corrections and construction updates to minimize sample iterations.

Material & Trim Coordination: Ensure all correct fabrics, trims, and embellishments are sourced and available on time for sample execution, checking their performance post-construction (e.g., shrinkage, seam slippage).

Timeline Management: Maintain the sampling calendar to ensure all deadlines for lookbooks, buying meetings, and production approvals are strictly met.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education: Degree or Diploma in Fashion Technology, Apparel Production, Garment Construction, or a related field.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in apparel merchandising, sample room management, or technical design.

Technical Expertise:

Deep understanding of garment construction methods, stitching techniques, and seam types.

Strong knowledge of pattern making, garment grading, and fabric specs (woven and knits).

Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot complex design tech packs.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and clear communication skills to collaborate effectively with both creative designers and factory masters.

Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (for tracking sheets) and familiarity with PLM software or Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
