Senior Manager, Government Relations and Public Policy, India Head
The Opportunity
We are looking for a seasoned and strategic senior leader to join our organization as Senior Manager, Government Relations and Public Policy, Head of India. This critical leadership role will be responsible for shaping our public policy and regulatory engagement strategy across India, serving as the primary point of contact with key government stakeholders including the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), NITI Aayog, Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), and other central ministries and regulators.
As a senior representative of the organization in India, you will lead our Legal, Government, and Regulatory Affairs (LGR) efforts and work cross-functionally to influence policy frameworks that support innovation, digital infrastructure, AI, data governance, and economic growth. You will collaborate with internal leaders and external policy forums to drive thought leadership and ensure our positions are well understood by stakeholders at the highest levels.
What you will do:
-Lead all Government Affairs and Public Policy initiatives in India, serving as the principal liaison with central ministries, regulators, and government institutions.
Represent the company in strategic engagements on key technology and innovation agendas.
-Shape and execute public policy strategies aligned with national initiatives such as Digital India, IndiaAI, Make in India, and National Data Governance frameworks.
Collaborate closely with the Legal and Regulatory Affairs (LGR) team to assess and influence laws and regulations relevant to AI, cloud, data privacy, and cybersecurity.
-Build partnerships and coalitions with industry associations, think tanks, and academic institutions to advocate for a progressive policy environment.
-Provide high-quality, strategic advice to senior internal stakeholders on legislative and regulatory risks and opportunities.
-Lead policy discussions and formal consultations related to tech regulations, working with internal product, legal, and global public policy teams.
-Drive India-specific collaborations with the government on innovation pilots, regulatory sandboxes, skilling partnerships, and joint policy working groups.
The ideal candidate will also have the following:
1. Public Sector Expertise
· Direct experience in public sector engagement and/or sales
· Understanding of procurement frameworks and government buying processes
2. Strategic Business Integration Understanding
· Deep collaboration with India business leadership to align policy with market growth priorities
· Ability to translate policy developments into business strategy and execution
· Active participation in India market expansion planning
3. Cross-Functional Leadership
· Strong integration across sales, product, legal, marketing, and global policy teams
·
4. Thought Leadership & National-Level Influence
· Ability to position the company as a strategic partner to government, not only an industry participant
· Leadership on impactful flagship initiatives (e.g., Digital India, IndiaAI, skilling and workforce development)
