Backend Developer – Senior Consultant

(.NET | Azure | APIs | SQL)

Role Summary

A Senior Consultant – Backend Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs using .NET and Azure. The role requires strong hands on technical expertise, ownership of backend components, and the ability to guide junior team members while delivering high quality enterprise solutions.

This is a delivery focused, hands on role with technical leadership at the feature or module level.

 

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

• Design, develop, and optimize C# / .NET Core Web APIs.
• Implement secure, scalable, and high performance backend services.
• Apply best practices in dependency injection, middleware, async programming, and error handling.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs with proper versioning and documentation.
• Integrate backend services with databases and external systems.
• Ensure reliability, performance, and maintainability of backend components.

 

Cloud & Infrastructure (Azure)

• Deploy and manage backend services on Azure App Service.
• Configure application settings, environments, and secrets.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and diagnostics using Azure Application Insights.
• Troubleshoot production issues using logs, telemetry, and metrics.
• Support release and environment management activities.

 

Data & Integration

• Work with SQL Server / Azure SQL databases.
• Write optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and data access logic.
• Ensure data integrity, performance, and transaction handling.
• Integrate with authentication providers and external APIs.

 

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Own backend deliverables for assigned features or modules.
• Participate in technical design discussions and effort estimations.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Mentor Consultants and junior developers.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and cross functional teams.
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks.

 

Problem Solving Skills

• Strong ability to design and troubleshoot backend systems.
• Expertise in resolving production issues efficiently.
• Ability to optimize API performance and database queries.
• Analytical approach to diagnosing complex technical problems.
• Good decision making in performance, scalability, and security scenarios.

 

Technical Expertise

Backend & APIs

• Strong experience in C# and .NET Core Web API development.
• Solid understanding of REST principles and API design patterns.
• Experience with dependency injection, middleware, and async architecture.
• Knowledge of API security, OAuth2, JWT, and authorization practices.
• Experience working in microservices based environments (preferred).

 

Data

• Strong experience with SQL Server / Azure SQL.
• Good understanding of database design and performance tuning.

 

Azure & DevOps

• Hands on experience with Azure App Service.
• Strong experience using Azure Application Insights for monitoring and diagnostics.
• Working knowledge of Git (Azure DevOps preferred).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
