Job Description — Staff Nurse

About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Staff Nurse to join our hospital team in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. The Staff Nurse will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients

Monitor and record patients' vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate) at regular intervals

Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids as per doctor's orders, following prescribed protocols

Assist physicians during clinical examinations, procedures, and surgeries

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, medical charts, and nursing notes in compliance with hospital standards

Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, and other procedures; provide post-operative care

Educate patients and their attendants on medical conditions, medications, post-treatment care, and preventive health practices

Coordinate with the medical, pharmacy, and laboratory departments to ensure seamless patient care

Respond promptly and effectively to patient emergencies and medical codes

Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control standards in the ward/unit

Handle patient intake, discharge planning, and proper handover documentation during shift changes

Participate in ward rounds with the medical team and contribute clinical observations

Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols including patient confidentiality (data privacy norms)

Support and mentor junior nursing staff and nursing students during clinical rotations

Educational Qualifications

Qualification Details

Minimum (Diploma) General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) — 3-year diploma program; eligible after passing 12th board exam in Science (PCB) with minimum 50% marks

Preferred (Degree) B.Sc. Nursing (4-year program) from a recognized college/university affiliated to a nursing council

Post-Basic (Added Advantage) P.B.B.Sc Nursing or M.Sc Nursing in relevant specialization

ANM Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM) — applicable for OPD/community nursing support roles

Mandatory Pre-Requisites:

Passed 10+2 (Class XII) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) in Science stream

Minimum 50% aggregate marks in 12th board examination

Valid registration with the Andhra Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council (APNMC)

Must possess a valid INC (Indian Nursing Council) Nursing Registration / NUID Number

Experience Required

Freshers: GNM or B.Sc. Nursing graduates with internship completion are eligible to apply

Experienced: Minimum 1–3 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital/healthcare facility preferred

Candidates with ICU, Emergency, OT, or Pediatric experience will be given preference

Key Skills & Competencies

Clinical Skills:

Patient assessment and vital sign monitoring

Wound dressing and catheterization

IV cannulation and medication administration

Emergency response and first aid

Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR — certification preferred

Soft Skills:

Empathy and patient-centric attitude

Strong verbal and written communication in Telugu and English

Ability to work under pressure and in rotating shifts (day/night)

Team collaboration and coordination

Attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Time management and multitasking

Certifications (Preferred / Added Advantage)

BLS / ACLS Certification

ICU / CCU Specialty Training Certificate

Infection Control and Prevention (IPC) Training

Wound Care or Diabetic Foot Care Certification

Any continuing nursing education (CNE) certificate from accredited institution
