Assembly Fitter

Job Summary: The Assembly Fitter is responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing mechanical components and sub-assemblies of Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) as per engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires precision, technical understanding, and hands-on experience in machine building.

Key Responsibilities: Assemble mechanical parts, components, and sub-assemblies of SPMs as per drawings and BOM.

• Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions.
• Perform fitting operations such as drilling, tapping, grinding, and alignment.
• Ensure proper tolerance, alignment, and finishing of assembled parts.
• Conduct trial runs and assist in machine testing and debugging.
• Identify and resolve assembly issues during machine build.
• Maintain quality standards and ensure zero-defect assembly.
• Use measuring instruments like vernier callipers, micrometres, dial gauges, etc.
• Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean working environment (5S).
• Coordinate with design and production teams for smooth assembly operations.

Required Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly and fitting techniques.

• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Hands-on experience with hand tools and machine tools.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics (preferred).
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Team player with good communication skills.

Working Conditions: Shop floor environment.

• May require overtime during project deadlines.
• Occasional travel for machine installation (if required).
