Staff Nurse

Position Title-Scrub Nurse (Operating Room Nurse)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize the operating room before surgical procedures.
• Sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Set up sterile drapes and maintain aseptic technique.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgery.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures.
• Count instruments, needles, and sponges before, during, and after surgery to ensure patient safety.
• Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout the operation.
• Document surgical procedures and nursing interventions accurately.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, circulating nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma, B.Sc., or GNM in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Valid nursing registration/licensure as per local regulatory requirements.
• Certification in Operating Room Nursing (preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in an operating theatre/operating room preferred.
• Freshers with OT training may be considered in some healthcare facilities.

Working Conditions

• Work in operating rooms and surgical suites.
• May require standing for extended periods.
• Participation in on-call, weekend, and emergency surgical coverage may be required.

Reporting To

• OT In-Charge / Nurse Manager / Surgical Services Manager.
