Accounting Team Lead I

Job Description

Leads the execution and continuous improvement of core accounting operations by ensuring high-quality service delivery, process integrity, and compliance. Drives performance and operational excellence through effective team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and data-informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team handling Account Receivables exceptions processing, resolving unapplied cash, refunds, and payment adjustments.

  • Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and adherence to internal controls.

  • Review and approve complex transaction resolutions and escalate systemic issues.

  • Monitor team performance and productivity against SLAs and KPIs.

  • Support audit preparation and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date.

  • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-ones to provide coaching and feedback.

  • Identify areas for process improvement and assist in SOP updates.

  • Act as a liaison between the team and senior leadership, ensuring effective communication and execution of strategic priorities.

  • Reviews and evaluates advanced issues and analyzes Accounting/Financial/technical information

  • Uses advanced accounting principles and understand the concepts, rules and terminology to the science of accounting

  • Manages day to day" workflow"

  • Applies strong understanding of industry practices and integrates subject matter knowledge

  • Leads process and/or service improvement program

  • Questions and considers the implications of financial decisions and accounting recommendations

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or related field.

Skills

·         Strong understanding of AR processes, controls, and compliance requirements.

·         Proven ability to manage and develop team members.

·         Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·         Experience with accounting systems (ERP), reporting tools, and reconciliation processes.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting operations  

  • Minimum 2 years of people management experience is preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This job has supervisory duties.

Education & Experience (in lieu)

• In lieu of the above education requirements, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
