1. Job Purpose (In one or two sentences)

• To drive and improve the Transport KPIs (Latency, Packet loss, Jitter, TNL failure, X2 ) involving mobility services (2G/3G/4G/5G) and stability of the respective services
• To increase resiliency and improve transport infrastructure network by eliminating errors, drops, high utilization, temperature, power threshold deviation, fluctuation etc
• To excel in operational efficiency by introducing next-gen technologies and tools like automation, cloudification etc
• Strong Governance mechanism with cross functional team; OEM (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, and Ericsson), SNOC, CODE, Cluster leads and Leadership team adherence to benchmarks (KPIs, SLAs)

2. Key Accountabilities / Key Result Areas (Max 5)

 

• Ownership for achieving benchmark of Transport KPIs of RAN services (Latency, Packet loss, Jitter, TNL failure) to meet 99% benchmark and further improvement
• Proactively addressing network issues like DCR, X2 failure and faster resolution in co-ordination stakeholders
• Maintaining health of the transport network by eliminating errors, drops, high utilization, temperature, power threshold deviation, fluctuation etc by driving and collaborating with cluster teams, CODE and fiber operations team within minimum time
• Performing periodic audit of the network for QOS/parameters and fixing the deviations in co-ordination with respective stakeholders
• Drive operations excellence for Network & services with stringent SLA compliance by implementing industry best practices, tools and systems. Ensure service performance & quality through service improvement plans and regular service audits.
• Implementation of new ideas, best practices from industries
• Define service performance KPIs and benchmark with industry. Periodic review of SLAs for competitive market offering. Engage with CTO, Transport Operation head periodically for Network/service performance reviews to improve the quality of experience to customers.
• Efficient governance of managed services partner engagement at strategic and operational level to ensure best in class service experience to customers. Governance of OEMs & other off-net service providers.
• Operations (Technology) sign off with product for development & launch of new products/services/solutions SLAs proposed to Mobility Customers
• Drive digitization for entire IP/MPLS based network and service fulfillment and assurance.
• Develop IP competence across transport vertical to be ahead of curve.

 

3. Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience, Technical / Professional Qualifications (Max 5)

 

• 10+ Years of Experience in Domain (Telecom/IT/OEM) with 5-7 experience in handling Large Scale Telecom Network Domain
• Knowledge of service performance KPIs/SLA benchmarking and strategies for continual performance improvement.
• Experience in managing multi service & multivendor (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, Huawei etc.) data network.
• Working knowledge in across IP, Optics, Microwave and RAN for end to end troubleshooting
• In-depth knowledge and experience in large scale and complex IPMPLS backbone and backhaul network to carry mobility and fixed line services
• Ability to drive operational excellence through standardization and innovation in processes/systems/tools.
• Good interaction experience with other service providers/partners, industry technical experts/forums and standards bodies
• Excellent team building capabilities and communication skills.
• BE in Electronics & Telecommunication/IT.
• Industry Certification – ITIL/CCNA/CCSP/CCNP/CCIE/JNCIA/JNCIP

• Network Quality of Service (QoS) Adherence: Adherence to strict latency, jitter, and packet loss targets across the IP transport domain.
• Capacity & Bandwidth Utilization: Optimization of link utilization percentages to prevent backhaul congestion during peak traffic hours
• Network Availability & Uptime: Percentage adherence to transport network uptime SLAs and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) metrics.
• Traffic Routing Efficiency: Percentage reduction in suboptimal routing, core transport link failures, and failover switchover times.

• Challenges:

• Managing high-volume, multi-functional network capacity and data traffic demands.
• Cross-system dependencies with multiple telecom vendors, equipment providers, and fiber partners.
• Timely upscaling to understand newer technologies, protocols, and architectures (e.g., 5G network slicing, SRv6, ORAN) in the mobile transport ecosystem.

• Traffic Congestion & Packet Drop: Failing to scale capacity against unpredictable spikes in mobile data usage, causing dropped calls or degraded user experience.
• Interoperability Failures: Integration breakdowns or protocol mismatches across legacy and next-generation multi-vendor network equipment.
