We are currently seeking a Business Consulting - Associate Business Analyst to join our team in Pune, Mahārāshtra (IN-MH), India (IN).

Job Title: Senior Business Analyst – Payments & Banking

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with strong expertise in Payments & Banking domain and solid data analysis capabilities. The ideal candidate will bridge business and technology teams, drive payment transformation initiatives, and leverage data insights to support regulatory, operational, and strategic decision-making.

This role requires deep knowledge of payment systems, banking operations, regulatory frameworks, and hands-on experience in data analysis, reporting, and data-driven solution design.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis – Payments & Banking

• Gather, analyse, and document business, functional, and data requirements.
• Work on UK and international payment schemes such as:
• Faster Payments
• Bacs
• CHAPS
• SWIFT
• Support initiatives aligned with PSD2, Open Banking, AML/KYC, and financial crime compliance.
• Conduct impact analysis, gap analysis, and process mapping (AS-IS / TO-BE).
• Create BRDs, FRDs, user stories, process flows, and data mapping documents.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Technology, Compliance, and Operations teams.
• Support UAT planning, test case validation, and defect triage.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Perform advanced data analysis using SQL and large datasets.
• Analyse payment transaction data for trends, reconciliation, fraud indicators, and performance metrics.
• Develop dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
• Work with data engineers on data models, data lineage, and transformation logic.
• Support regulatory reporting and audit data requirements.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance standards are maintained.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of overall experience as a Business Analyst within Banking & Financial Services.
• Strong domain knowledge in Payments, Retail Banking, or Corporate Banking.
• Hands-on experience with payment processing, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation flows.
• Strong SQL skills with experience analysing complex datasets.
• Experience in data mapping, data modelling, and ETL processes.
• Familiarity with ISO 20022 messaging standards.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum and/or Waterfall environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working on regulatory or compliance-driven projects.

Technical Skills

• SQL (Advanced level)
• Excel (Advanced – Pivot, Macros preferred)
• Data visualization tools (Power BI / Tableau)
• JIRA / Confluence
• API & system integration understanding
• Knowledge of core banking platforms (Temenos, Finastra – preferred)

Nice to Have

• Experience in digital payments, card schemes (Visa/Mastercard).
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
• BCS / IIBA (CBAP/CCBA) certification.
• Experience in data governance or data migration projects.
