Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a highly experienced Calypso Developer to lead the development, customization, and deployment of enterprise financial platform solutions. This role involves designing, implementing, and supporting complex trade processing, risk management, and settlement workflows on the Calypso platform. The ideal candidate will collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant solutions supporting enterprise trading operations and supporting digital transformation efforts.
Software Requirements
Required:
Strong hands-on experience with Calypso platform version 16.1 or higher, including process customization, integration, and migration projects
Proficiency in core development languages such as Java (preferred) and scripting tools (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation and support tasks
In-depth knowledge of Calypso modules such as Pricing, Risk, Settlement, and Asset Management
familiarity with database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server) and data integration techniques
Experience with Calypso APIs, external system integrations, and workflow development
Strong understanding of financial instrument lifecycles—derivatives, fixed income, FX, and collateral management
Knowledge of security standards, validation, and audit requirements for trading systems
Preferred:
Experience supporting or implementing Calypso on cloud environments or hybrid infrastructure
Exposure to new features and versions of Calypso platform
Experience with system deployment, configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
Overall Responsibilities
Lead the technical design, development, and support of complex trading, risk, and settlement workflows on the Calypso platform
Support system upgrades, migrations, and functional customization supporting enterprise trading operations
Collaborate with business analysts and system owners to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
Conduct detailed code reviews, troubleshoot issues, and perform optimization activities for performance, security, and compliance
Maintain documentation related to architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
Support testing, deployment, and environment setups, ensuring system stability and security
Lead incident resolution efforts, including root cause analysis and escalation management
Promote best practices for system security, data integrity, and recovery strategies
Technical Skills (By Category)
Languages & Platforms:
Required: Java (preferred), Shell scripting, Python (supporting automation)
Preferred: Other JVM languages or support scripts for integrations
Modules & Functional Areas:
Pricing, Risk, Settlement, Asset Management, Collateral Management modules within Calypso
Databases & Data Management:
Oracle, SQL Server; experience with schema design, data validation, and query tuning
Integration & APIs:
Web services (REST, SOAP), external system APIs, support for trade and data connectivity
Configuration & Deployment Tools:
Support for deployment automation, environment setup, and version control (Git)
Security & Compliance:
Implementation of security controls, encryption, and compliance with industry standards
Experience Requirements
5+ years supporting and developing in Calypso or similar financial trading platforms
Proven success supporting enterprise trade lifecycles—derivatives, FX, fixed income—on Calypso systems
Experience with system upgrades, migrations, and process customization projects
Knowledge of security standards, audit requirements, and compliance in financial environments
Industry experience in banking, asset management, or capital markets is advantageous
Day-to-Day Activities
Design, develop, and support optimal workflows for trade, risk, and settlement processing
Lead testing, deployment, and upgrade activities, ensuring quality, security, and minimal downtime
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, performance bottlenecks, and security concerns
Collaborate with business teams, infrastructure, and vendors to support system integration and automation
Conduct root cause analysis, incident management, and system documentation
Support system audits, regulatory compliance activities, and security practices
Continuously identify improvement opportunities through process optimization and automation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field
5+ years supporting or developing enterprise Calypso solutions in trading or post-trade environments
Certifications in financial systems, Calypso, or related standards are preferred
Proven ability to support scalable, secure, and compliant trading systems supporting large enterprise operations
