Reporting To: CSSD In-Charge/ Nursing Supervisor

Experience Required: 0-2 years

Job Summary:

·        The CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department) Technician is responsible for supporting sterilization, disinfection, and distribution of medical and surgical instruments in accordance with established infection control protocols and quality standards.

·        The role ensures the availability of sterile equipment for clinical and surgical procedures while maintaining strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and regulatory guidelines.

·        The incumbent will assist in decontamination, packaging, sterilization processes, and inventory management under supervision, contributing to effective hospital infection prevention and control practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform cleaning, decontamination, and disinfection of surgical instruments and medical equipment as per standard protocols
• Assist in inspection, assembly, and packaging of instruments for sterilization
• Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ETO, and other sterilizers under supervision
• Ensure proper labelling, dating, and storage of sterile packs to maintain sterility assurance
• Monitor and record sterilization parameters, including temperature, pressure, and cycle time
• Maintain accurate documentation and logs for sterilization processes and equipment usage
• Ensure safe handling and segregation of contaminated and sterile materials
• Support inventory management, including tracking, stocking, and distribution of sterile supplies
• Adhere to infection control policies, biomedical waste management protocols, and safety guidelines
• Report equipment malfunction, process deviations, or quality concerns to the supervisor
• Coordinate with OT, wards, and other departments for timely supply of sterile instruments

Key Skills & Competencies:

·        Basic knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques

·        Understanding of infection control and biomedical waste management practices

·        Knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile field maintenance

·        Good teamwork and coordination skills

·        Discipline in maintaining hygiene and safety standards

·        Documentation and record-keeping

·        Time management and task prioritization

·        Basic computer knowledge for maintaining logs and reports

Educational Qualification: 10th/12th + Certification/Diploma in CSSD Technology / Sterilization Techniques
