We are hiring: Electrical Design & BOQ Engineer

Location: Pune

We are looking for a technically strong Electrical Design & BOQ Engineer with hands-on experience in preparing Single Line Diagrams (SLD), electrical panel drawings, and practical design inputs for LT and HT systems. The candidate should be capable of developing execution-friendly designs, preparing BOM/BOQ inputs, working with catalogue-based component selection, and coordinating with site, estimation, and purchase teams.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The candidate will coordinate with site engineers to understand project requirements, prepare electrical designs and drawings, develop BOM/BOQ, and support estimation and purchase teams with accurate technical inputs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Coordinate with site engineers to understand site conditions, project requirements, and technical inputs

- Visit site occasionally when required for design clarification or to resolve critical doubts

- Prepare electrical drawings including:

 - Single Line Diagrams (SLD)

 - Schematic drawings

 - Layout drawings in AutoCAD

- Develop panel drawings including:

 - GA drawings

 - Basic manufacturing drawings

 - Panel layout / internal arrangement drawings

- Prepare BOM and provide accurate quantity inputs for BOQ preparation in coordination with the estimation team

- Select electrical components for LT and HT systems based on:

 - load and system requirements

 - application and operating conditions

 - protection requirements

 - catalogue specifications

- Perform cable selection considering current rating, voltage drop, installation conditions, and project requirements

- Select protection devices and switchgear based on the application, system capacity, and technical suitability

- Read and interpret electrical catalogues, datasheets, and technical specifications

- Coordinate with the estimation team for costing inputs and BOQ validation

- Coordinate with the purchase team for

technical specifications and vendor inputs

- Support the site team during execution for any design-related queries, changes, or clarifications

- Update drawings and BOM/BOQ based on revisions or client changes

- Maintain proper documentation of drawings, assumptions, exclusions, and revisions

REQUIRED SKILLS

- Strong knowledge of electrical systems covering both LT and HT applications

- Good understanding of switchgear types, features, and selection criteria

- Knowledge of protection systems and selection logic

- Ability to read and interpret electrical catalogues and datasheets

- Strong AutoCAD skills for SLD, schematic, layout, and panel drawings

- Ability to prepare BOM and support BOQ development

- Basic understanding of panel design and manufacturing drawings

- Strong proficiency in MS Excel for BOM/BOQ preparation, quantity calculations, and vendor comparison sheets

- Good working knowledge of MS Word for preparing professional documents, reports, and quotations

- Good coordination and communication skills

- Practical problem-solving mindset

EXPERIENCE

- 2–8 years in electrical design, BOQ/BOM, panel design, or project coordination roles
