Overview

The Tactical Defense Controls (TDC) team is looking for a Lead Security Analyst to join us in simulating real-world threat actors to assess and improve Mastercard’s detection, prevention, and response capabilities. The analyst will design and execute threat-informed attack scenarios based on current intelligence and known adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) as well as create tests to provide assurance about current alerts and controls. The analyst will directly influence the cyber security posture of Mastercard.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute adversary emulation scenarios aligned to real-world threat actor behaviors
• Simulate attack lifecycles, including initial access, lateral movement, persistence, privilege escalation, and data exfiltration
• Evaluate the effectiveness of security controls, monitoring tools (SIEM, EDR), and incident response workflows
• Identify detection gaps, control weaknesses, and alert fidelity issues
• Partner with SOC and detection engineering teams to enhance monitoring and response capabilities
• Leverage internal and external threat intelligence to profile adversary groups and campaigns
• Mentor and train junior team members on applicable technologies and controls
• Develop and maintain tools, scripts, and infrastructure to support emulation operations

All About You

• Strong understanding of adversary TTPs and offensive security methodologies
• Experience with red teaming, adversary emulation, or purple teaming activities
• Ability to assess detection coverage and identify defensive gaps
• Strong technical knowledge of security tools across multiple security functions (IDPS, Web Proxy, Security Information Event Managers, File Integrity Monitoring, Antivirus, EDR, etc)
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, Malware Kill Chain, Common Vulnerabilities, Knowledge of Windows and Unix Based Operating Systems, and Networking Principles
• Strong interpersonal skills, including good communication with the ability to articulate ideas in a precise and concise manner
• Ability to think creatively, take ownership of tasks, and adapt to changing business requirements
