Role Description

• This position sits within Deutsche Bank’s eDiscovery and Archiving Technology group, supporting compliant enterprise platforms used by Legal, Compliance, HR, Audit, and related control functions. The role focuses on engineering, support, governance, and controlled evolution of eDiscovery dbExchange, which supports automated data collection, packaging, managed file transfer, and delivery of data sources required for eDiscovery requests. The AVP will act as a hands-on technical owner for dbExchange, ensuring the platform remains stable, secure, supportable, auditable, and operationally resilient. The role combines application engineering with embedded Application Governance and Operational Risk Responsibilities, ensuring application ownership, control evidence, risk management, software asset management, and NAR-related governance are integrated into day-to-day delivery.

Your key responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and support application components for eDiscovery dbExchange and EDI, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, maintainable, and compliant.
• Provide hands-on development and L2 / L3 support across Java-based services, APIs, batch jobs, database components, integration workflows, reporting feeds, operational utilities, and support automation.
• Support eDiscovery dbExchange as a managed file transfer and orchestration capability for automated data collection, packaging, secure transfer, and delivery of data required for eDiscovery requests.
• Support production stability through incident triage, root cause analysis, problem management, service restoration, proactive monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Support application and infrastructure compliance activities, including cyber hygiene remediation, vulnerability management, certificate renewals, security patch coordination, software currency, access reviews, security attestations, and audit evidence preparation.
• Perform or support as Application Service Owner, including application governance, NAR data accuracy, ownership records, lifecycle information, control evidence, compliance task tracking, risk documentation, and coordination with control partners.
• Partner with infrastructure, platform, security, and application teams to ensure technical remediation tasks are assigned to the right owners while maintaining application-level oversight and accountability.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, data flows, runbooks, release notes, support procedures, control evidence, escalation paths, and knowledge articles to reduce key-person dependency.

Your skills and experience

• Strong Java development experience, including backend services, APIs, batch processing, integration components, logging, error handling, unit testing, and maintainable coding practices.
• Strong hands-on experience in enterprise application development, enhancement, and production support within a regulated technology environment, preferably financial services.
• Strong working knowledge of relational databases, preferably Oracle, including SQL development, query tuning, data validation, schema understanding, troubleshooting, and operational reporting.
• Experience supporting complex enterprise applications with upstream / downstream dependencies, batch schedules, file flows, integration points, operational controls, and production support requirements.
• Working knowledge of DevOps practices including Git-based version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, controlled deployments, environment promotion, and automated testing.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub, or equivalent platforms for delivery tracking, documentation, source control, and team collaboration.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform, including storage, compute, networking, monitoring, security controls, and cloud-ready application design.
• Strong understanding of application security and compliance practices, including access controls, vulnerability remediation, certificate management, software currency, patch coordination, data protection, and audit support.
• Practical understanding of Application Service Ownership, including governance tasks, software asset management, compliance evidence, risk tracking, NAR updates, and coordination with control partners.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues across application, database, integration, infrastructure, and operational layers, and coordinate resolution across multiple teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical issues, explain risks, and provide clear updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders
