Job Description Summary:
Perform day-to-day system administration and tasks for assigned systems. Work with both internal and external customers and vendors to resolve technical system problems in a timely manner with a primary focus on moderately complex problems. Systems will be Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, internal and external domain, SMTP/relay, and potentially certificatesAs a Systems Administrator at Rocket Software, you are part of a global, fast-paced IT organization with a primary mission to provide world-class service to software development labs and internal departments ensuring our employees can perform at the highest level. You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, support, and monitoring of complex systems in your area of responsibility. You will identify, analyze, and resolve system issues and report on deficiencies in configuration, process, and documentation as well as develop and recommend corrective actions. You will collaborate with senior members of the team to influence and make suggestions that aid in the designing of technical solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, administer, and support Active Directory (AD) services, including user and computer objects, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), trusts, and AD security best practices
- Manage and maintain DNS and DHCP infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and accurate name/IP resolution across enterprise environments
- Administer external DNS and domain name services, including registration, renewal, and configuration with third-party providers (e.g., GoDaddy), ensuring proper delegation and security
- Support and maintain SMTP relay and Exchange environments, including mail flow, connectors, security, troubleshooting, and integration with internal and external systems
- Perform day-to-day system administration and tasks for assigned systems. Work with both internal and external customers and vendors to resolve technical system problems in a timely manner with a primary focus on moderately complex problems.
- Support production, development, and other critical infrastructure which supports Rocket Software business units.
- Perform duties following all company standards regarding engagement, change management, and escalations.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- 9+ years of systems administration and operations experience in Windows Server, Linux, enterprise storage, physical and virtual server technologies, collaboration tools, or network infrastructure
- Advanced hands-on experience with Active Directory, group policy, authentication, and directory services troubleshooting
- Strong knowledge and operational experience with DNS and DHCP, including enterprise and multi-site configurations
- Experience managing external DNS and domain name registrations through third-party providers (e.g., GoDaddy or similar registrars)
- Proven experience supporting SMTP relay and Microsoft Exchange environments
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and/or Nutanix
- Excellent interpersonal skills and desire to support end users with issues of varying degrees of complexity
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex infrastructure and systems issues through systematic root-cause analysis and remediation
- Proven experience collaborating across IT disciplines and with business stakeholders to design, implement, and support technology solutions aligned with organizational objectives
- Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, applying IT capabilities to solve operational and strategic business challenges
- Excellent technical communication, documentation, and customer service skills, with a strong service-oriented mindset and focus on reliability, performance, and user satisfaction
