About the Unit 

The Data & Analytics Solutions - IT team is responsible for providing the necessary technical and domain expertise required to create and maintain the databases and shared services for our end customers.Our flagship products namely TDM, SpringerMaterials, Experiments, & ADIS Insight are built by a team of developers, QAs, BAs, UI & UX experts and SMEs, who collaborate to ensure easy accessibility of relevant data. We follow a problem statement and user experience driven approach to ensure the right data is available in the simplistic way for the scientific community.  

 

About the Role 

  

Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years 

 

Place of Work: 1201/1301, Building No. 5 (R3), Gerra Commercezone, Kharadi, Pune (Working in Hybrid Model) 

 

Educational Qualification: B.Sc., BCA, BCS, B.E., B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA and M.Sc or a technology-related field or relevant experience 

We are looking for a Software Developer (backend) to join our team and grow in a collaborative, global environment. You will work with teams across multiple locations, building technical expertise and product understanding while contributing to impactful solutions.

You should have hands-on experience in Java/kotlin/groovy, Postgres, Marklogic, CI/CD, Docker, Unix, XML, XSLT, and GCP, with solid backend knowledge. We value proactive, self-driven developers who can collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and contribute to design, implementation, and release cycles. Candidate should be proficient in English communication, both written and verbal. 

 

You will be joining a cross functional delivery team with different nationalities, backgrounds and experience levels. All team members collaborate to deliver solutions that best satisfy the needs of our business and we are working to create a culture that encourages new ideas and innovation but within the boundaries of the technologies that best suit the vision that Springer Nature has defined.                               

 

Role Responsibilities: 

  

Agile product team, day-to-day you will: 

1.         Participate in daily stand-ups and agile ceremonies (planning, showcases, retrospectives).

2.         Develop new features and improve code quality through pair programming.

3.         Build product, domain, and business knowledge.

4.         Collaborate with stakeholders to support product delivery from design to release.

5.         Contribute to platform support and monitoring.

  

What you will be doing 

  

Within 3 Months you will: 

 

• Get familiar with our technology stack. Our application is built in React, Java/Scala/Kotlin/Groovy, Docker and Unix. Our applications are deployed to cloud foundry and katee.  
• Understand stakeholder requirements and team workflows.
• Contribute to reducing technical debt by adding test coverage.
• Get to know all members of the team. 
• Begin delivering sprint tasks of medium complexity.

  

By 3-6 months you will: 

 

• Gain a solid understanding of the product’s business model and domain.. 
• Be able to understand and discuss business requirements. 
• Gain trust and confidence of project stakeholders. 
• Participate in technical discussions to improve architecture and code quality.
• Deliver stories within sprints and proactively suggest improvements.

  

By 6-12 months you will: 

  

• Build deeper technical expertise and contribute to design discussions.
• Work with global teams on planning, implementation, and release.
• Develop product features that solve customer problems innovatively.
• Provide actionable feedback to peers and stakeholders.
• Support live application monitoring and issue diagnosis.

  

About You 

  

• Educational Qualification: B.Sc., BCA, BCS, B.E., B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA and M.Sc or a technology-related field or relevant experience 
• Need to have a solid understanding of Java/Kotlin/Groovy, JVM ecosystem, docker, RDBMS, NoSql db and CI/CD pipelines. 
• 3–5 years of experience in full stack development using modern frameworks.
• Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal. 
• Experience working with modern web framework. 
• Ability to write reliable, maintainable, and testable code following industry best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience in debugging and optimizing web applications.
• Diagnose, debug, and optimize performance of web and backend applications. 
• Collaborative mindset with eagerness to learn and grow in a global team environment.
