Backend Software Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer contractor to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for a self-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of deliverables, and can independently design, build, and scale backend systems. You will play a key role in developing robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
• Build high-performance systems capable of handling large-scale workloads
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Ensure system reliability, performance, and security
• Contribute to technical decisions and system design
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
• Work independently with strong accountability
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Java with Spring Boot (preferred)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases
• Experience working on large-scale systems
• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Java design patterns
• Experience with distributed systems
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of performance tuning tools
• Agile development experience
