Role Overview 

We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join the SonicWall Cloud Secure Edge (CSE) team. In this role, you will drive the design and development of a cloud-native Security Service Edge (SSE) platform that enables secure, Zero Trust access to applications, SaaS, and enterprise resources from any device, anywhere. 

You will play a key role in evolving a modern platform that delivers capabilities such as Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), secure web gateway, and VPN-as-a-Service, replacing legacy security architectures with scalable, cloud-delivered solutions. 

 

What You’ll Do 

• Design and build scalable systems and APIs
• Lead development of subsystems and core features
• Drive technical decisions and design reviews
• Improve performance, reliability, and security
• Mentor engineers and guide best practices 

 

What You’ll Bring 

• 6+ years of system/software development experience
• Expertise in Go, Rust, C or C++ and concurrency.
• Strong experience in distributed systems and system design.
• Deep knowledge of databases and scaling.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems and networking fundamentals 
• Experience with cloud and microservices architectures.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
• Working experience or strong understanding of secure access and security systems (e.g., authentication, authorization, policy enforcement, Zero Trust / ZTNA / SSE)
• Ability to design systems with security, scalability, and reliability considerations.
• Ability to guide teams and improve engineering quality.
• Strong use of AI tools with engineering judgment.
