Job Description

A lathe machine operator shapes raw materials like metal or plastic into precise, symmetrical components


Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup & Operation: Install cutting tools, attachments, and raw materials; set precise speeds and feeds for turning, boring, drilling, and threading.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and comprehend complex engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure exact dimensions.
  • Quality Control: Measure components using precision instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify they meet strict tolerances.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine machine upkeep (such as oiling moving parts), clear chips/debris, and adjust tooling to prevent defects.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to workplace safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean workspace.
