Project Engineer

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities

A. Project Start PreparationBefore starting the project, the Project In-Charge will:

• Understand the project scope, drawings, BOQ, and work order execution requirements.
• Visit the site and inspect site conditions.
• Prepare manpower planning and tools/equipment requirements.
• Share material requirements with the purchase team.
• Decide work sequence and prepare daily & weekly execution plans.

B. Site Execution ResponsibilityThe Project In-Charge will ensure:

• Fire alarm, hydrant, sprinkler, and extinguisher work is executed as per drawings and standards.
• Proper quality in welding, fitting, electrical wiring, and piping work.
• Pump room work follows the planned sequence.
• Team productivity is maintained without delays or unnecessary rework.
• Any delay or site issue is reported on the same day.

C. Team Handling ResponsibilityThe Project In-Charge will manage:

• Technicians, helpers, supervisors, welders, fitters, electricians, labour, and subcontractor teams.
• Daily attendance, work allocation, and productivity monitoring.
• Team discipline, safety instructions, and work guidance.
• Quality checking of work executed by manpower.
• Daily manpower utilization and escalation of low productivity or conflicts.

D. Material Requirement & Purchase CoordinationThe Project In-Charge will:

• Identify material requirements as per BOQ and drawings.
• Submit daily/weekly material requirements to the purchase team.
• Report shortages, damaged materials, and maintain material consumption records.
• Control material wastage and maintain balance stock records.
• Return unused material after project completion.

Not Allowed:

• Vendor selection
• Rate finalization
• Purchase approval
• Payment commitment

E. Client / Site Engineer Technical CoordinationThe Project In-Charge will coordinate only for technical and execution-related matters such as:

• Site access
• Work sequence
• Technical clarifications
• Testing schedule
• Technical handover
• Site readiness and safety instructions

Not Allowed:

• Commercial discussion
• Rate commitment
• Billing or payment follow-up
• Free work commitments

F. Quality Control ResponsibilityThe Project In-Charge will ensure quality checks for:

• Fire Alarm System
• Fire Hydrant System
• Sprinkler System
• Extinguisher & AMC Work

This includes checking installation quality, alignment, testing, tagging, leakage testing, support systems, signage, and overall workmanship standards.

G. Safety ResponsibilityThe Project In-Charge must enforce site safety by ensuring:

• PPE usage (helmet, shoes, gloves, goggles)
• Safe height work practices
• Fire safety during welding/cutting
• Electrical isolation during electrical work
• Availability of fire extinguishers during hot work
• Immediate reporting of accidents or unsafe conditions
• Daily safety briefings for the team

H. Reporting Responsibility

Project In-Charge must submit a daily site report to ensure proper tracking of project progress, manpower utilization, material usage, and site activities.

The report should include planned work, completed work, material status, client instructions, safety issues, and next day planning. Daily photo/video updates and timely issue reporting are mandatory for smooth project execution and successful completion.

I. Testing, Commissioning & Technical HandoverAt project completion, the Project In-Charge will ensure:

• Internal inspection and testing completion
• Fire alarm, hydrant, sprinkler, and extinguisher testing
• Snag list preparation and closure
• Client demonstration and technical handover
• Handover checklist sign-off
• Submission of photo/video records and final project closure report
