DeoDap is a fast-growing e-commerce company focused on delivering innovative and high-demand products across multiple online marketplaces and D2C channels. As we continue to scale our Shopify ecosystem, we are looking for a highly experienced Head of Shopify Development to lead our Shopify technology team, drive platform innovation, and build high-performing e-commerce experiences.
Role Overview
The Head of Shopify Development will be responsible for leading the end-to-end Shopify technology function at DeoDap. This role requires a strong blend of technical leadership, e-commerce expertise, team management, and business understanding. The ideal candidate will oversee Shopify store architecture, custom development, app integrations, performance optimization, conversion improvements, and future platform scalability. Shopify developers are expected to handle theme customization, API integrations, performance optimization, and advanced e-commerce workflows.
Key ResponsibilitiesShopify Platform Leadership
Lead the overall Shopify and Shopify Plus development strategy.
Own technical architecture, scalability, and platform roadmap.
Ensure best practices for development, deployment, security, and maintenance.
Evaluate and implement new Shopify technologies, apps, and integrations.
Team Management
Build, mentor, and manage a team of Shopify developers, frontend developers, and QA engineers.
Establish coding standards, review processes, and development workflows.
Conduct performance reviews and technical training sessions.
Collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, Design, and Operations teams.
Store Development & Optimization
Lead development of custom Shopify themes and features.
Oversee Shopify Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and modern frontend implementations.
Optimize website speed, Core Web Vitals, and mobile performance.
Drive CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) initiatives to improve revenue and user experience.
Integrations & Automation
Manage third-party app integrations and custom API development.
Integrate ERP, CRM, Inventory, Logistics, Payment Gateways, and Marketing platforms.
Build scalable automation solutions for e-commerce operations.
Oversee Shopify APIs, webhooks, and custom applications. Shopify developers commonly work with APIs, integrations, checkout flows, and third-party systems.
Technical Innovation
Explore Shopify Hydrogen, Headless Commerce, and emerging Shopify technologies.
Lead implementation of Shopify Functions, Checkout Extensions, and custom storefront experiences.
Drive innovation using AI tools, automation, and data-driven decision making. Advanced Shopify leadership roles increasingly require experience with Hydrogen, Shopify Functions, and performance-focused architecture.
Performance & Security
Monitor website performance, uptime, and security.
Implement SEO-friendly development practices.
Ensure platform compliance and secure coding standards.
Troubleshoot critical issues and lead incident management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
6–10+ years of web development experience.
4+ years of hands-on Shopify development experience.
Strong expertise in:
Shopify & Shopify Plus
Shopify Liquid
HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
React.js / Next.js
REST & GraphQL APIs
Git & CI/CD
Experience with:
Shopify Apps & Custom App Development
Shopify Checkout Extensibility
Shopify Functions
Headless Commerce (Hydrogen/Oxygen preferred)
Performance Optimization & SEO
Leadership Skills
Proven experience leading development teams.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with high-volume D2C brands.
Experience managing multiple Shopify stores.
Knowledge of marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, and other omnichannel platforms.
Understanding of analytics tools including GA4, Hotjar, and Shopify Analytics.
Experience with AI-assisted development workflows.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Shopify store performance and uptime.
Website speed and Core Web Vitals scores.
Conversion rate improvements.
Successful launch of new features and stores.
Development sprint velocity and delivery timelines.
Reduction in technical debt and platform issues.
Team productivity and retention.
