Maths & Measurement Trainer (5 Position)

About the Role

Prejha Foundation, Ranchi is looking for a dedicated and experienced Maths & Measurement Trainer to join our Gurukul Campus. This is not a classroom-only role. We need someone who understands both mathematics and the trades- someone who can walk onto a worksite, pick up a tape measure, and turn it into a meaningful lesson. The trainer will teach candidates basic maths and measurement through practical activities, not just theory.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Teach basic mathematics including arithmetic, fractions, ratios, percentages, and unit conversions to trade candidates in batches of 15 to 25 over a 1 to 2 week module.

• Design and deliver industry-level practical activities such as tile-area calculations, pipe-length measurements, fabric cutting, and weight estimation- hands-on, not just board-and-chalk.

• Train candidates on reading and using measurement tools such as rulers, tape measures, weighing scales, and vernier calipers used in electrical, plumbing, welding, and masonry trades.

• Develop engaging, activity-based lesson plans including group challenges, estimation rounds, real-life trade problems, and games that make maths meaningful and memorable.

• Assessandtrack candidate progress through quizzes, worksheets, and practical demonstrations, and report learning outcomes to the academic coordinator.

Activity-Based Teaching Examples

Candidates learn best by doing. The trainer is expected to design sessions around real trade scenarios, for example:

• Tile the floor: Calculate area, count tiles, and estimate waste percentage.

• Wire the room: Measure cable lengths, work with fractions, and convert millimetres to metres.

• Mix the mortar: Apply ratios, weigh materials, and read a weighing scale accurately.

• Cut the fabric: Use fractions of a metre, understand symmetry, and calculate pattern sizing.

• Estimate the load: Work with mass, perform unit conversions, and build mental calculation speed.

• Plan the pipe: Calculate perimeter, volume of a cylinder, and basic flow rates.

Who We Are Looking For

• Strongin mathematics: Solid command over basic to intermediate maths — from arithmetic through geometry. Ability to solve problems mentally and clearly explain the reasoning behind every formula.

• Industry experience: Familiarity with how maths is applied in real trades — site measurements, reading technical drawings, estimation, and material calculations.

• Creative teacher: Does not rely on rote teaching. Uses games, group activities, and real objects to make maths practical and memorable for vocational learners.

• Connects with learners: Patient and clear communicator who can explain concepts in Hindi or regional language. Experience working with vocational or ITI-level learners is a strong advantage.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation in Mathematics, Science, or a related field (B.Sc. / B.A.)

• B.Tech or Diploma in an Engineering discipline

• Masters degree in Mathematics, Education, or a relevant field (M.Sc. / M.Tech) preferred

Please note: Qualification alone is not the deciding factor. We equally value industry experience and creative teaching ability. A candidate with a B.Tech background who has worked on site and can teach through practical activities will be preferred over a purely academic profile with no field exposure.
