Job Description
An electrical engineer designs, develops, and tests electrical devices and systems. They apply principles of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism to create components for power generation, transport, and manufacturing. They are responsible for project budgeting, schematic drafting, system safety, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Design & Modeling: Use CAD or specialized software to design electrical systems, schematics, and components.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Build prototypes and perform calculations (e.g., load calculations, arc flash studies) to test reliability, safety, and efficiency.
- Manufacturing & Installation: Supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment to ensure it aligns with project specifications.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all electrical installations and devices meet local and global safety standards and codes.
- Maintenance: Develop preventative maintenance programs and periodically inspect electrical hardware.
- Project Management: Manage project timelines, estimate material and labor costs, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
