Job Description – Injection Molding Machine Operator / Technician / Engineer

Position: Injection Molding Machine Operator / Technician / Engineer

Department: Production

Location: Sanand, Gujarat

Reports To: Production Supervisor / Production Manager

Job Summary:

The Injection Molding Machine Operator/Technician/Engineer is responsible for operating, setting up, monitoring, and maintaining injection molding machines to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of plastic components. The role includes machine operation, quality inspection, troubleshooting, process optimization (for Technician/Engineer), and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation

Operate injection molding machines as per production plan.

Perform machine start-up and shutdown procedures.

Load raw materials and monitor machine performance.

Maintain required production output and cycle time.

Quality Control

Inspect molded parts for dimensional accuracy and visual defects.

Record quality inspection results.

Segregate and report non-conforming products immediately.

Follow SOPs and quality standards.

Machine Setup & Process (Technician/Engineer)

Set molds and perform machine setup/changeovers.

Adjust processing parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, and cooling time.

Optimize cycle time while maintaining product quality.

Troubleshoot molding defects like flash, short shot, sink marks, burn marks, warpage, and flow lines.

Maintenance

Perform routine preventive maintenance and machine cleaning.

Report equipment breakdowns to the maintenance team.

Ensure molds and auxiliary equipment are in good working condition.

Safety & Housekeeping

Follow all company safety policies and wear PPE.

Maintain 5S standards in the work area.

Ensure safe handling of raw materials and finished products.

Documentation

Maintain production logs and machine parameter records.

Record downtime, rejection, and production data accurately.

Complete shift handover documentation.

Qualifications

Operator

ITI

Freshers or 1–2 years of experience in injection molding.

Technician

Diploma in Plastic Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / CIPET

Fresher –2 years of experience in injection molding setup and troubleshooting.

Engineer

B.E./B.Tech in Plastic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Polymer Engineering

Fresher –2 years of experience in injection molding process optimization and production management.

Required Skills

Knowledge of injection molding machines and plastic materials.

Understanding of molds, tooling, and process parameters.

Ability to identify and resolve molding defects.

Knowledge of quality inspection tools.

Basic computer and production reporting skills.

Good communication and teamwork.

Problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience with automotive, electrical connector, or precision plastic component manufacturing.

Knowledge of engineering plastics such as PA, PBT, ABS, PC, PP, and Nylon.

Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, 5S, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing is an added advantage.
