Job Summary

An Arc Welder is responsible for joining, repairing, and fabricating metal parts using arc welding equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The role involves reading technical drawings, preparing materials, and ensuring strong, high-quality welds for machinery, structures, and equipment used in manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Perform arc welding on metal components and structures.

Read and interpret technical drawings and welding specifications.

Prepare materials and welding equipment before work.

Cut, fit, and assemble metal parts as required.

Repair damaged machinery, equipment, and metal structures.

Inspect welds to ensure quality and strength.

Maintain welding machines and tools properly.

Follow workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Assist maintenance and fabrication teams when required.

Keep work area clean and organized.

Required Skills

Knowledge of arc welding techniques and equipment.

Ability to read fabrication drawings and measurements.

Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

Understanding of metal properties and welding safety.

Ability to use grinders, cutters, and measuring tools.

Teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

ITI / Technical certification in Welding or related trade preferred.

Valid welding certification is an advantage.

Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or maintenance work preferred.

Knowledge of industrial safety practices.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and work for long hours.

Ability to lift heavy materials when required.

Comfortable working in hot, dusty, or noisy environments.

Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.

Safety Responsibilities

Wear proper PPE such as welding helmet, gloves, apron, and safety shoes.

Follow fire prevention and welding safety procedures.

Inspect welding cables and equipment before use.

Ensure proper ventilation during welding work.

Report unsafe conditions immediately.
