Lab Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Laboratory Assistant to join our chemical manufacturing facility in Surat. The successful candidate will support the daily operations of our testing and research laboratories. This role involves assisting chemists with routine analytical testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing chemical inventory, and ensuring strict compliance with all safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and standardized samples for routine testing.
• Conduct physical and chemical property tests on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products.
• Operate and maintain standard laboratory instruments (e.g., pH meters, viscometers, titrators, weighing balances).
• Record and log all test results accurately in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or standard logbooks.
• Perform routine calibration and preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
• Monitor and manage the inventory of laboratory supplies, glassware, and chemicals.
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous chemical waste.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laboratory workspace.
• Adhere strictly to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Follow all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: B.Sc. in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
• Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience working in a chemical laboratory environment (manufacturing sector preferred).
• Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of chemical properties, safe handling of hazardous materials, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Attention to Detail: High precision in measuring, recording data, and following complex instructions.
• Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) for data entry and report generation.
• Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills in Gujarati, Hindi, and basic English.
