Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Construction Site Supervisor to supervise day-to-day construction, civil work, site development and quarrying-related activities. The candidate will be responsible for manpower supervision, contractor coordination, excavation, earthwork, stone/aggregate-related activities, material coordination, site progress, quality, safety and timely execution of assigned work.
Key Responsibilities
1. Construction Site Supervision
Supervise daily civil and construction activities at the project site.
Ensure work is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications and instructions.
Monitor excavation, earthwork, levelling, PCC, RCC, masonry, plastering and finishing activities.
Coordinate with Site Engineer, Project Manager, contractors and labour teams.
Ensure proper sequencing and timely completion of site activities.
2. Quarrying / Excavation / Stone Work
Supervise quarrying, excavation and stone-related activities as assigned by management.
Monitor excavation and earthwork activities at project sites and designated quarry areas.
Coordinate excavation of soil, murum, rock, stone and other approved materials.
Supervise loading, transportation and unloading of excavated material, aggregates and stones.
Monitor deployment and utilization of JCB, excavators, dumpers, loaders, breakers and other machinery.
Maintain daily records of machinery hours, trips, quantities and material movement.
Coordinate with equipment operators, drivers, labour contractors and vendors.
Ensure excavation and quarrying activities are carried out safely and within approved site limits.
Monitor the quantity and quality of stone, aggregate, murum and other materials extracted or supplied.
Coordinate with the Site Engineer regarding excavation levels, dimensions and site requirements.
Report excess excavation, unexpected rock strata, water accumulation or other site conditions immediately.
Minimize unnecessary wastage and ensure proper utilization of excavated materials.
Ensure proper stacking and storage of reusable materials.
Maintain records of incoming and outgoing material from quarry/excavation areas.
Ensure compliance with all applicable site safety, environmental and statutory instructions.
3. Manpower & Labour Management
Supervise daily labour and manpower deployment.
Allocate work according to daily construction requirements.
Monitor worker productivity and attendance.
Coordinate with labour contractors and subcontractors.
Ensure adequate manpower is available for planned activities.
Report manpower shortages or labour-related issues to the reporting manager.
4. Machinery & Equipment Coordination
Monitor the use of construction and earthwork machinery.
Coordinate with operators for JCB, excavators, loaders, dumpers and other equipment.
Maintain daily machinery usage records.
Report breakdowns and maintenance requirements immediately.
Ensure machinery is used efficiently and safely.
Monitor unnecessary idle time and equipment utilization.
5. Material Coordination
Check daily material requirements for construction and site development.
Coordinate with Purchase and Store departments for material availability.
Monitor receipt and utilization of cement, steel, sand, aggregate, murum, stone and other construction materials.
Maintain proper material usage and minimize wastage.
Verify material quantities received at site wherever assigned.
6. Quality Control
Ensure work is executed according to approved specifications.
Monitor quality of civil, excavation, earthwork and quarry-related activities.
Check workmanship and report defects to the Site Engineer.
Ensure rejected or defective work is rectified.
Prevent unauthorized changes in construction methodology or materials.
7. Safety & Site Discipline
Ensure workers follow site safety rules.
Ensure proper PPE is used during excavation, quarrying and construction activities.
Maintain safe working distances around heavy machinery.
Ensure proper barricading and safety measures around excavation areas.
Immediately report accidents, unsafe conditions and equipment-related incidents.
Maintain proper housekeeping and access routes at the site.
8. Daily Progress & Reporting
Prepare and submit daily reports covering:
Construction progress
Excavation progress
Quarrying/stone work progress
Earthwork quantity
Material movement
Machinery utilization
Number of JCB/excavator/dumper trips
Manpower deployment
Contractor work status
Material consumption
Pending activities
Site issues
Safety observations
Site photographs
9. Contractor & Vendor Coordination
Coordinate with civil contractors, quarry contractors, transporters and equipment operators.
Monitor contractor work and productivity.
Ensure work is completed according to assigned targets.
Verify completed work before reporting to the Site Engineer.
Follow up on pending work and delays.
Required Skills
Practical knowledge of civil construction and site development.
Knowledge of excavation, earthwork, quarrying and stone/aggregate handling.
Ability to supervise JCB, excavator, loader and dumper operations.
Good manpower and contractor management skills.
Knowledge of construction materials.
Good site coordination and reporting skills.
Ability to maintain daily quantity and machinery records.
Strong follow-up and problem-solving skills.
Safety-conscious approach.
Ability to work in outdoor construction/quarry environments.
Educational Qualification
ITI / Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant technical qualification.
Candidates with strong practical experience in construction, excavation, earthwork or quarry operations may also be considered.
