Job Description – Panchakarma Therapist nurse

Role Summary

The Panchakarma Therapist is responsible for delivering Panchakarma therapies, assisting doctors during procedures, ensuring patient comfort, maintaining hygiene and documentation, and supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of the therapy department.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

* Welcome and prepare patients for therapy.

* Verify patient identity and doctor’s prescription before treatment.

* Explain therapy procedures and provide pre- and post-treatment instructions.

* Ensure patient comfort, privacy, dignity, and safety throughout treatment.

* Monitor patients during and after therapy and report any abnormal findings to the doctor immediately.

Panchakarma Therapies

* Perform prescribed Panchakarma therapies as per the doctor’s instructions and clinic SOPs.

* Prepare medicines, oils, equipment, linens, and therapy rooms before each session.

* Maintain proper therapy techniques and treatment protocols.

* Ensure timely and quality delivery of all therapies.

Clinical Assistance

* Assist doctors during procedures such as Uttarbasti and other fertility-related treatments, as directed.

* Prepare instruments and maintain aseptic precautions during procedures.

* Support doctors in patient positioning and procedure preparation.

Documentation

* Maintain therapy records and daily treatment registers.

* Update patient information in the clinic CRM/software.

* Record medicines, oils, consumables, and therapy details accurately.

* Maintain treatment schedules and follow-up records.

Hygiene & Infection Control

* Clean and disinfect therapy rooms and equipment after every session.

* Follow sterilization, infection-control, and biomedical waste disposal protocols.

* Ensure proper handling and storage of medicines, oils, and therapy materials.

* Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic therapy environment.

Inventory Management

* Monitor stock of oils, medicines, linens, towels, and consumables.

* Inform management about low stock and replacement requirements.

* Ensure proper storage and minimize wastage of materials.

* Greeva Basti

* Janu Basti

* Nabhi Basti

* Shirodhara

* Pizhichil

* Udvartana

* Uttarbasti (Doctor-performed; therapist assists as required)

* Yoni Pichu / Yoni Dhawan (As prescribed and within clinic protocol)

Coordination

* Coordinate with doctors, reception, counsellors, nursing staff, and pharmacy for smooth patient care.

* Assist in scheduling therapy appointments and managing daily therapy lists.

* Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointments and treatment instructions.

General Duties

* Follow all clinic SOPs, policies, and patient confidentiality guidelines.

* Maintain a professional appearance, punctuality, and courteous behavior.

* Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement activities.

* Perform other duties assigned by the Medical Director or Management.

Qualification

* Certificate/Diploma in Panchakarma Therapy from a recognized institute.

* Experience in Ayurveda, wellness, or fertility centres is preferred.

* Freshers with good practical skills and willingness to learn may also apply.

* Good knowledge of Panchakarma procedures and Ayurveda principles.

* Excellent patient-handling and communication skills.

* Ability to maintain accurate records and follow clinical protocols.

* Strong commitment to hygiene, quality, and patient safety.

* Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
