Job Description
Job Title: System Engineer (Software & Hardware Installation)
Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled System Engineer responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining both software applications and hardware systems. The role involves ensuring optimal performance of IT infrastructure, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting end-users across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and networking devices
- Deploy and manage operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.) and enterprise software applications
- Perform system upgrades, patches, and regular maintenance
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner
- Set up and manage network components such as routers, switches, and firewalls
- Monitor system performance and ensure security best practices are followed
- Provide technical support and guidance to users
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement and support services
- Ensure data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures are in place
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Proven experience in system installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
- Hands-on experience with hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus
- Understanding of cybersecurity practices and system security
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified, or Cisco (CCNA)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
- Work Environment:May involve on-site installation and support
- Occasional travel to client locations (if applicable)
- Ability to handle physical tasks like lifting hardware equipment
