Plastic Mould Designer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Plastic Mould Designer specializing in caps and closures moulds to design, develop, and optimize high-precision injection and compression moulds. The candidate will be responsible for creating efficient, high-cavitation mould designs ensuring productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

• Design injection/compression moulds for plastic caps, closures, and related components.
• Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (UG/NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD).
• Develop multi-cavity and high-speed mould concepts.
• Design hot runner systems, cooling layouts, and ejection mechanisms.
• Perform mould flow analysis to optimize product quality and cycle time.

Technical & Manufacturing Support

• Coordinate with tool room, production, and maintenance teams.
• Ensure mould manufacturability and ease of maintenance.
• Support mould trials, troubleshooting, and improvements.
• Modify designs based on trial feedback and production issues.
• Select suitable materials and components for mould construction.

Quality & Cost Control

• Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
• Reduce cycle time and material wastage.
• Optimize mould life and maintenance cost.
• Follow design standards, safety norms, and documentation procedures.

Documentation

• Maintain design records, BOM, and technical drawings.
• Prepare design review reports and project timelines.
• Update revisions and change management documents.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of injection/compression mould design for caps & closures.
• Experience with high-cavitation moulds (16/32/48/64 cavities preferred).
• Good understanding of hot runner systems (HRS, Husky, Yudo, etc.).
• Knowledge of cooling systems and cycle time optimization.
• Expertise in CAD software (UG NX / SolidWorks / Creo).
• Understanding of mould materials, heat treatment, and machining processes.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Team coordination and communication skills.

Educational Qualification

• Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Tool Engineering / Plastic Technology

Experience Required

• 3–8+ years in plastic mould design
• Experience specifically in caps & closures or packaging industry preferred
