Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Production

  • Take complete charge of day-to-day quarry operations across multiple leases, ensuring production targets for laterite, gravel, and road metal are met consistently.
  • Plan and supervise drilling, blasting, excavation, crushing, and dispatch operations with a focus on efficiency, cost control, and minimal downtime.
  • Optimize crusher and screening operations, including oversight of stage-wise crushing plants and road metal production.
  • Drive a culture of "get it done" — proactively identifying bottlenecks and resolving them at the source.

Statutory Compliance & Safety

  • Serve as the statutory Mines Manager under the Mines Act, 1952 and the Metalliferous Mines Regulations (MMR), 1961, holding overall responsibility for safety, health, and welfare of all persons employed.
  • Ensure full compliance with the MMDR Act, 1957 and applicable Minor Mineral Concession Rules, including lease conditions, approved mining plans, and dispatch documentation.
  • Maintain all statutory registers, returns, and notices required by the DGMS, the Directorate of Mines & Geology (DMG), and other authorities.
  • Liaise with DGMS, DMG, and inspecting officials during inspections and audits.

Environmental & Regulatory

  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Clearance (EC) conditions, Consent to Operate (CTO) from the State Pollution Control Board, and approved mine closure / progressive greening plans.
  • Oversee dust suppression, water management, plantation, and other environmental safeguards across active leases.
  • Manage documentation and reporting for environmental monitoring and statutory environmental obligations.

Technology & Systems

  • Leverage modern mining technology — survey instruments, digital dispatch and weighbridge systems, drone surveys, and production tracking software — to improve accuracy and accountability.
  • Build and maintain data-driven MIS reporting for production, dispatch, royalty, and compliance.

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, train, and hold accountable the field workforce, supervisors, blasters, and machine operators.
  • Coordinate with the accounts and compliance teams on royalty payments, dispatch reconciliation, and lease-related matters.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with client representatives and regulatory officials.
  • Required Qualifications & ExperienceFirst Class Mines Manager's Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) issued by the DGMS — mandatory.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mining operations, with substantial hands-on experience in quarrying, road metal / aggregate, and crushed stone production.
  • Working degree or diploma in Mining Engineering (preferred) or equivalent technical background.
  • Demonstrated, current knowledge of the MMDR Act, 1957, Mines Act, 1952, MMR 1961, and minor mineral statutory framework.
  • Practical experience handling environmental compliance — EC, CTO, and mine closure obligations.
  • Comfort with technology and digital tools for mine planning, survey, dispatch, and reporting.
