Job Description
A Retail Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescription medications accurately, ensuring patient safety, and providing professional advice on the safe use of medications. The pharmacist works closely with patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacy staff to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, dosage, side effects, interactions, and storage.
- Maintain accurate patient records and prescription documentation.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Supervise and train pharmacy staff.
- Manage inventory, including ordering, storing, and monitoring medication stock.
- Handle controlled substances according to legal requirements.
- Provide exceptional customer service and respond to patient inquiries.
- Promote health and wellness through patient education and preventive care initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.), D.Pharmacy, M.Pharmacy as required by local regulations.
- Valid pharmacist license in the applicable state or country.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, drug interactions, and clinical guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and electronic health records.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
