Overview:
In this role the Systems Engineer performs and leads the end to end Systems engineering activities for various Interiors System products of Collins aerospace. This includes but not limited to Systems development plans, System requirements definition and management, requirements validation, system modeling and simulation analysis, system integration, system verification and certification, model-based systems engineering (MBSE) implementation. The Systems Engineer works with multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate technical efforts towards realizing product development and project goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Technical coordination with the multi-disciplinary team involving mechanical, electronics, materials and software engineers
- Product Development, Systems Engineering, Systems Thinking, Requirements Management, System Design, System Modelling, System Validation and Verification
- Engages in Systems Engineering scope through various product development phases: concept, system architecture, requirements, design, integration, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Leads technical planning, requirements management, system architecture, system integration, system verification activities
- Manages overall product requirements, reliability, logistics, evaluation measurements, and coordinates with other disciplines for large or complex projects.
- Supports bid & proposal activities analyzing Stakeholder requirements, current product offering and developing technical proposals
- Carry out end-to-end systems engineering activities as per ARP 4754A guidelines, including System Development Plans, System Engineering process assurances, etc.
- Captures customer/regulatory/industrial requirements and convert them into system and component requirements. Establishes requirement allocations and flow-down to Hardware and Software
- Converts product requirements into total system solutions, lead trade studies, and implement common work practices to support design and qualification groups. Assists system verification activities
- Manages compliance of the products and processes to aerospace standards like ARP 4754A, ARP 4761, DO-160G, DO-178C, TSOs, etc.
- Leads and supports in implementing digital engineering practices for systems engineering discipline - MBSE, Digital twins, Automation, etc.
- Estimates, tracks, owns and reports technical risks, cost and schedule aspects for assigned scope of work.
- Supports product design reviews – SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc. and RRCAs.
- Participates/leads in Continuous improvement events to improve process maturity and drive productivity savings.
- Develops departmental policies and procedures for Systems Engineering related to programs.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.Tech/M.Tech Mechanical/Aeronautical/Electronics/Mechatronics
- 7-10 years of relevant industry experience with at least 5 years as a Systems Engineer in system requirements management, system verification and validation, system modelling of aerospace systems
- Strong communication, problem solving and analytical capability.
- Work experience with ARP 4754A/B, ARP-4761/A, DO-160 and familiarity with DO-254 /DO-178 standards.
- Familiarity with DOORS, JAMA or Polarion ALM requirement management tools
- Model Based Design with MBD/MBSE tools like MATLAB / Simulink, SysML using Cameo Systems Modeler
- Working knowledge of Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Electromechanical/ Electrohydraulic, Control systems
- Experience with System or Component validation/verification, qualification and certification planning – TC, TSO, STC, PMA
- Strong problem solving and analytical capability.
