Role Overview

The Senior Manager – Mining Digital Transformation will play a key role in driving digital, analytics, and automation initiatives for global mining clients. This role requires a strong mining domain professional with 8+ years of overall work experience, including a minimum of 5 years with a large mining organization, combined with hands-on exposure to digital transformation programs, drilling automation, and modern mining technologies.

The candidate will collaborate closely with mining operations teams, digital engineering groups, and client stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions across the mining value chain. Experience working with global mining clients, particularly in the Australia region, is highly preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Mining Digital & Analytics Solutions
  • Support the design and delivery of digital transformation initiatives across mining operations, including mine planning, drilling, blasting, and production optimization.
  • Contribute to solution architectures for data-driven mining use cases, leveraging advanced analytics, automation, and operational technology (OT) data.
  • Translate mining business requirements into scalable digital and analytics solutions aligned with operational realities.
  • Support development of end-to-end analytics pipelines, from data ingestion and modelling through deployment and operationalization.
  • Ensure solutions follow enterprise standards for data quality, security, governance, and compliance.

 

• Delivery Execution & Team Leadership
  • Manage and mentor project teams comprising data analysts, engineers, automation specialists, and mining SMEs.
  • Drive day-to-day delivery execution, ensuring timelines, quality, and business outcomes are met.
  • Provide hands-on guidance during solution design, analytics development, and validation with operations teams.
  • Conduct solution reviews and ensure alignment with EY delivery frameworks and client architecture standards.
  • Collaborate with technology, cloud, and platform teams to integrate digital solutions into mine operations.

 

• Mining Domain Enablement
  • Apply deep mining domain expertise to solve challenges across:
    • Mine operations and production optimization
    • Drilling and blasting optimization
    • Equipment health, asset performance, and predictive maintenance
    • Safety, sustainability, and operational efficiency
  • Work with drilling automation systems, fleet management systems (FMS), and operational data sources.
  • Leverage data from sensors, equipment telemetry, IoT, and OT systems for analytics and automation use cases.
  • Support adoption of digital mining platforms and advanced operational analytics.

 

• Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management
  • Engage directly with mine operations leaders, technical managers, and digital teams at client organizations.
  • Act as a trusted delivery partner for mining clients during digital transformation journeys.
  • Support development of use-case roadmaps, value realization plans, and transformation milestones.
  • Contribute to proposal development, solutioning, and client presentations for mining engagements.

 

• Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to apply new digital technologies, automation, and analytics across mining operations.
  • Contribute to development of reusable assets, accelerators, and best practices for mining digital solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends related to autonomous drilling, smart mines, digital twins, and sustainability.
  • Support internal capability building initiatives within the Mining competency.

 

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of total work experience, with at least 5 years in a large mining organization.
• Strong hands-on experience in mining operations, drilling, or mine technical roles.
• Practical exposure to digital transformation programs within mining environments.
• Experience working on or supporting drilling automation, digital drilling systems, or advanced operational technologies.
• Understanding of mining data sources including equipment telemetry, sensors, OT/IoT data, and operational systems.
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with global mining clients, with strong preference for exposure to the Australia mining market.
• Prior experience in consulting, advisory, or large-scale transformation programs is an advantage.
• Familiarity with mining focused digital platforms, analytics tools, or fleet/drilling management systems.
• Exposure to cloud-based data platforms, advanced analytics, or AI-driven mining solutions.
• Engineering from Tier 1 college with technical degree in Mining (preferred), Geology, Mechanical, or related discipline.
• MBA from Tier 1 college (optional)
