Mainframe to Cloud Migration Developer (Job Level 10)

We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe to Cloud Migration Developer with hands-on experience in mainframe application development, modernization, and cloud migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will play a key role in transforming legacy mainframe applications to modern cloud-based platforms while ensuring functional equivalence, performance, scalability, and operational stability. This role requires strong technical expertise in COBOL-based applications, Micro Focus technologies, migration tools, cloud platforms, and modernization best practices.

The successful candidate will work closely with architects, technical leads, business analysts, infrastructure teams, and testing teams to analyze existing applications, remediate code, migrate data, modernize interfaces, and support end-to-end migration activities from assessment through production deployment. The individual should possess strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced transformation environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and modernize Mainframe applications for Cloud migration.
• Remediate and convert COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS applications for Micro Focus environments.
• Perform data migration, EBCDIC-to-ASCII conversion, and validation activities.
• Support batch and online application modernization and interface migration.
• Develop, test, debug, and deploy migration-related code changes.
• Participate in SIT, UAT, parallel runs, and production cutover activities.
• Collaborate with architects, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to ensure successful migration delivery.
• Prepare technical documentation and support post-production stabilization.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.
• Hands-on experience with Micro Focus Enterprise Server/Enterprise Developer.
• Proven experience in Mainframe-to-Cloud migration projects.
• Knowledge of AWS/Azure cloud platforms.
• Experience with migration testing, code remediation, and deployment activities.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Preferred Skills

• Insurance Experience
• Knowledge of MQ, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, and scheduling tools.
• Product knowledge – Vtg/wmA

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with hands-on experience in mainframe application development/ modernization, and cloud migration initiatives preferably. The ideal candidate will play a developer role in transforming legacy mainframe applications to modern cloud-based platforms while ensuring functional equivalence, performance, scalability, and operational stability. This role requires strong technical expertise in all mainframe technologies & tools. Experience in Micro Focus technologies, migration tools, cloud platforms, and modernization best practices would be an added advantage.

The successful candidate will work closely with architects, technical leads, business analysts, infrastructure teams, and testing teams to analyze existing applications, remediate code, migrate data, modernize interfaces, and support end-to-end migration activities from assessment through production deployment. The individual should possess strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced transformation environment.
