As a Principal Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Finance Technology Team which is aligned to Corporate Technology Division, you provide expertise and engineering excellence as an integral part of an agile team to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.

Job responsibilities

• Leads the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of the Interest Rate Risk platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
• Architects cloud-native solutions using AWS services and modern DevOps practices
• Develops robust, high-performance applications, focusing on data processing, analytics, and integration with enterprise systems
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Risk, Finance, Data Engineering, and Infrastructure, to gather requirements and deliver solutions
• Creates durable, reusable software frameworks that are leveraged across teams and functions
• Establishes and enforce engineering best practices for code quality, testing, CI/CD, and documentation
• Mentors and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies
• Influences leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams
• Architects and governs agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows (using enterprise-authorised tools within the work environment) to improve delivery speed, code quality, and operational outcomes at scale (e.g., AI-driven PR review assistance, test generation/maintenance, release readiness checks, incident triage and root-cause acceleration), while defining guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse across teams

• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorised AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realised by automation at scale

   

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• 10+ years relevant experience while having an overall of min 15+ years of technology experience
• Prior experience delivering large-scale, mission-critical platforms with deep expertise in AWS cloud services and architecture
• Advanced proficiency in Python or Java, including experience with data processing frameworks and libraries
• Experience with microservices, API design, data pipelines and distributed systems
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines)
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams
• Experienced and comfortable with data and analytics
• Demonstrated experience designing and leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices (using enterprise-authorised tools within the work environment) across teams, including setting standards for human-in-the-loop validation, auditability/traceability of changes, and secure handling of sensitive data

• Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations in engineering workflows, including security/resiliency implications, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance; ability to influence senior technical leaders on safe scaling pattern

   

• Strong understanding of risk management concepts, preferably within the financial services industry.
• Experience in Orchestration
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and data visualisation tools.
