Manager, Data Operations - Alternative Investments

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Data Operations Manager to lead an operations processing team supporting the growing Alternative Investments Operations team.

This role is responsible for overseeing daily tasks across client document inflows, portal document retrieval, and workflow management to ensure alternative investment investor documents are processed accurately and efficiently within established service-level agreements.

The Manager serves a key role leading a team operating within a follow-the-sun model, partnering closely with teams in India (UK Shift) and North America to ensure seamless document flow, operational excellence, and readiness for the downstream review and data extraction processes. The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership, operational rigor, and expertise in alternative investments.

How You Will Make an Impact 

Team & Operational Management

  • Lead a team of alternative investment Data Operations specialists - setting clear priorities to meet tight deadlines
  • Oversee daily document intake operations across multiple clients and alternative investment portals.
  • Monitor workflow queues and team capacity to ensure timely routing of documents within established service-level agreements and proactively address operational bottlenecks
  • Manage escalations related to missing documents, processing delays, portal access issues, or client-impacting events.

Global Collaboration  

  • Partner with leaders across India (UK shift) and North America to support a seamless follow-the-sun operating model.
  • Serve as a key escalation point for the junior staff on the Data Operations Alternative Investments Team.
  • Communicate operational challenges and opportunities to senior leadership.

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Leads technology adoption and process innovation, championing automation initiatives, and driving operational efficiency while fostering a culture of continuous learning and digital transformation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability
  • Support implementation of new workflows, technologies, and operational best practices.
  • Ensure process documentation, controls, and training materials remain current and effective.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
  • 5–7 years of experience in financial services, within wealth management, fund administration, or an alternative investment operations environment
  • 2+ years of experience supervising and developing a team of 2 or more staff; candidates who have coached or mentored junior analysts through complex alternatives workflows are encouraged to apply
  • Strong operational management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience and a solid understanding of commitment-based vehicles, capital calls, recallable distributions, and PCAPs  
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment - you don’t wait to be told what to do next, you anticipate it
  • Familiarity with GP portals, investor portals, and fund administrator platforms.
  • Knowledge of document extraction, workflow automation, and AI-enabled operational processes.
  • Collaborative team player who builds strong relationships across operations, technology, and client service teams, and is comfortable influencing without direct authority
  • Comfortable with technology and able to quickly learn new platforms; prior experience with alternative investment data aggregation tools is a plus
