We are looking for a motivated Junior DevOps Engineer who has successfully completed an apprenticeship within our company and gained foundational hands-on experience in DevOps and platform operations.

Role Overview

As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you will support the development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of applications and infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments. You will work closely with senior engineers, developers, and operations teams to improve deployment reliability, automation, and system performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in GitLab administration, including project/repository support, runner configuration, and user/access management.
• Support setup and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for application build, test, and deployment workflows.
• Help deploy and maintain applications across:
  • AWS
  • Azure
  • JBoss environments
• Perform basic Windows and Linux server administration tasks (user management, patching, scripting, service checks, troubleshooting).
• Use New Relic for application and infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis.
• Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and documentation of operational runbooks.
• Collaborate with teams to improve automation, deployment standards, and operational best practices.
• Apply entry-level GitHub Copilot/AI-assisted coding tools to improve scripting productivity and documentation quality.

Required Skills / Qualifications

• Completion of company apprenticeship program (or equivalent practical DevOps training).
• Basic to intermediate understanding of:
  • GitLab administration
  • CI/CD concepts and pipeline configuration
  • Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)
  • Application deployment concepts on JBoss
• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows administration.
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability using New Relic.
• Basic scripting skills (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, or Python).
• Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced DevOps environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code concepts (e.g., Terraform/Ansible).
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration basics (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of version control and branching workflows.
• Basic understanding of security and compliance in CI/CD pipelines.
