Automation Test Engineer
Capco Technologies Pvt LtdJob Description
Automation Test Engineer
Role Overview We are seeking Automation Engineers to support the HR Data and Analytics workstream, specifically the HR Data Distribution Platform (DDP). The role will focus on delivering BDD automation and functional testing as part of each sprint, ensuring that DDP enhancements, APIs, integrations, and data services are validated against agreed requirements. The Automation Engineer will work closely with QA, development, product, and engineering leads to build reliable automated test coverage using the project’s existing automation framework, tooling, environments, and coding standards.
Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain BDD automated test suites for the DDP platform as part of each sprint. • Create and execute functional test cases for agreed user stories, APIs, data flows, integrations, and sprint deliverables. • Validate RESTful APIs, backend services, data access logic, and downstream consumer requirements. • Work within the project’s existing automation framework, test tooling, environments, coding standards, and approved test processes. • Integrate and execute automated test suites through the existing pipeline or approved test execution process. • Ensure automation coverage supports regression testing and does not break existing test coverage. • Collaborate with developers, QA leads, product owners, business analysts, and engineering leads to clarify acceptance criteria and improve testability. • Identify, log, track, retest, and close defects in coordination with development and QA stakeholders. • Prepare test evidence, execution reports, automation coverage summaries, and defect status updates for sprint reviews. • Support quality validation for DDP enhancements including data source onboarding, API services, MongoDB data access, encryption, masking, and technical upgrades.
Required Skills and Experience • Hands-on experience in test automation and functional testing for enterprise applications. • Strong experience with BDD automation concepts and frameworks such as Cucumber or equivalent. • Experience testing RESTful APIs, backend services, and integration flows. • Ability to write, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using the existing project automation framework. • Good understanding of Agile delivery, sprint-based testing, acceptance criteria, and definition of done. • Experience with regression testing, defect lifecycle management, test execution reporting, and test evidence preparation. • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines or automated test execution processes. • Ability to collaborate with development teams and QA leads to resolve defects and improve automation stability. • Understanding of data validation, test data setup, data masking, encryption, and testing considerations for sensitive HR data. • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills • Experience with Java-based test automation frameworks, REST Assured, Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Postman, or similar tools. • Experience working on API-based data platforms, data distribution platforms, or enterprise integration systems. • Exposure to MongoDB or database validation for backend and data service testing. • Knowledge of JSON, XML, API contracts, request/response validation, and test data management. • Experience in regulated financial services environments or with sensitive HR data platforms. • Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Gradle, build pipelines, and release validation processes.
Expected Deliverables • BDD automation deliverables completed as part of each sprint. • Functional testing deliverables for agreed user stories, APIs, integrations, and DDP platform changes. • Automated test suites aligned to the existing automation framework and approved test process. • Executed test results, test evidence, defect logs, and quality status updates. • Regression validation confirming that new changes do not break existing functionality or automation coverage. • Defect retesting and closure support in coordination with Morgan Stanley QA and engineering leads.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Automation Engineer with strong BDD automation and functional testing experience, particularly for RESTful APIs and backend services. The candidate should be comfortable working in Agile sprint teams, collaborating with developers and QA leads, maintaining reliable automated test coverage, and producing clear test evidence for acceptance. The role requires disciplined execution within the existing DDP automation framework and the ability to support quality outcomes for a secure, business-critical HR data platform.
