Life on the Team
The Governance Analyst plays a key role in establishing and operating effective governance and performance management across GIS. This role ensures that governance frameworks, decision-making structures, and performance reporting are clear, consistent, and aligned to strategic objectives. It combines governance coordination with performance insight, providing leadership with accurate, structured, and actionable visibility of delivery, risk, and performance. You will support the ongoing evolution of frameworks, helping to embed data-driven governance and continuous improvement across GIS.
What You'll Do
Governance Framework & Operations
- Support the design and continuous improvement of governance frameworks, forums, and decision-making structures
- Maintain governance artefacts (e.g. policies, standards, Terms of Reference, RACI, action logs)
- Coordinate governance cycles, including meeting packs, approvals, decisions, and action tracking
- Ensure governance processes are consistently applied and aligned across GIS
Performance Management & Reporting
- Produce clear, timely reporting for leadership and governance forums
- Define and maintain KPI frameworks, reporting standards, and balanced scorecards
- Support development of dashboards and performance outputs (e.g. Power BI, Excel)
- Ensure reporting provides meaningful insight into delivery performance, risk, and priorities
Insight & Decision Support
- Translate performance data into clear insights, trends, and recommendations
- Support governance discussions by highlighting risks, dependencies, and areas requiring attention
- Contribute to forward-looking performance analysis to support decision-making
Data Quality & Assurance
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of performance data across reporting cycles
- Perform quality assurance across governance submissions and reporting outputs
- Work with stakeholders to improve data quality, ownership, and alignment
Continuous Improvement
- Drive standardisation, simplification, and automation of governance and reporting processes
- Contribute to the development of templates, tools, and ways of working
- Facilitate lessons learned and feedback loops to improve governance maturity
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a central point of contact for governance and performance reporting guidance
- Engage with stakeholders across GIS to ensure alignment of processes, data, and outputs
- Promote transparency, accountability, and data-driven decision-making
What You'll Need
Governance & Operating Models
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks, decision-making structures, and operating models
- Experience working within PMO, DMO, governance, or performance management environments
Performance Management & Reporting
- Experience defining KPIs, metrics, dashboards, and executive-level reporting
- Ability to link performance data to risks, priorities, and decisions
- Strong analytical capability with experience in data interpretation and insight generation
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel capability
- Experience with Power BI (or similar reporting/visualisation tools)
- Confident across Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Teams, SharePoint)
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise outputs for leadership
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple governance and reporting cycles
Continuous Improvement
- Experience driving standardisation, automation, and process improvement
- Proactive approach to improving reporting quality and governance maturity
Knowledge & Key Skills
- Governance frameworks, operating models, and decision-making structures
- Governance artefacts (policies, ToRs, RACI) and forum operations (packs, logs, schedules)
- KPI frameworks, balanced scorecards, and executive reporting outputs
- Performance insight (trends, risks, recommendations) to support decision-making
- Standardised reporting, data quality, and governance assurance
- Continuous improvement (automation, maturity, lessons learned)
