Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with 2–5 years of experience in mechanical product design and development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing spools, reels, and related components, ensuring manufacturability, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The role requires strong CAD skills, engineering fundamentals, and close collaboration with production, quality, and procurement teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop spools, reels, and related mechanical products based on customer and manufacturing requirements.
• Prepare 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
• Modify and improve existing product designs to enhance performance, reduce costs, and improve manufacturability.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure smooth product development and manufacturing.
• Conduct design calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection.
• Support prototype development, testing, validation, and product optimization.
• Resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and provide technical support to the shop floor.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, quality requirements, and customer specifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost reduction.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in sheet metal, fabrication, cable reels, spools, drums, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, CATIA, or Autodesk Inventor.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly.
• Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Familiarity with BOM preparation and engineering change management.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with ERP systems for BOM and engineering data management.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Exposure to FEA or structural analysis tools is an added advantage.
• Understanding of ISO quality systems and manufacturing best practices.
