Job Description
- Service Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities (Detailed)AMC & Service Invoice ManagementCollect AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) and service invoices from the Accounts Department.
- Ensure invoices are submitted to customers on time.
- Coordinate with customers to collect payments as per agreed payment terms.
- Maintain proper records of invoices, payment receipts, and outstanding balances.
- Outstanding Payment Follow-upRegularly follow up with customers for overdue service and AMC payments.
- Coordinate with the Accounts Department to resolve payment-related issues.
- Prepare monthly reports on outstanding payments and collection status.
- Preventive MaintenancePerform scheduled preventive maintenance on all installed weighing systems.
- Inspect equipment performance and identify potential issues before breakdowns occur.
- Recommend maintenance schedules to improve equipment life and minimize downtime.
- Installation & CommissioningInstall, configure, and commission weighing systems at customer locations.
- Ensure proper calibration and testing before handing over the system.
- Verify that all installations comply with company quality standards.
- Breakdown & Emergency SupportAttend customer breakdown calls promptly.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues.
- Carry out repairs and restore equipment within the committed response time.
- Customer CoordinationMaintain regular communication with customers regarding service schedules and equipment health.
- Coordinate with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Accounts, and Technical Support) to resolve customer issues efficiently.
- Provide professional customer service during every site visit.
- Operator TrainingTrain customer operators and maintenance personnel on the proper operation of weighing systems.
- Explain safety procedures, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ensure customers understand best practices to maximize equipment performance.
- Spare Parts & AMC Business DevelopmentIdentify opportunities to sell spare parts, AMC contracts, calibration services, and upgrades.
- Promote OEM spare parts and company service packages.
- Generate additional business through customer relationships and service visits.
- Business Opportunity IdentificationGather information on upcoming projects, plant expansions, and new equipment requirements at customer sites.
- Share business leads with the Marketing and Sales teams.
- Assist in converting service opportunities into new sales.
- Quality & Safety Compliance
- Conduct quality inspections on weighing systems after installation and maintenance.
- Ensure all work follows company safety policies and customer safety regulations.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment risks immediately.
- Calibration & Accuracy Verification
- Perform calibration of weighing systems according to company standards.
- Ensure measurement accuracy and maintain calibration records.
- Coordinate with certified agencies whenever statutory calibration is required.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed service reports after every customer visit.
- Update service history, equipment status, and customer feedback in the service management system.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports to the reporting manager.
- Inventory & Tool Management
- Maintain service tools, testing equipment, and measuring instruments in good condition.
- Keep adequate stock of fast-moving spare parts.
- Report material requirements in advance to avoid service delays.
- Technical Support
- Provide on-site and remote technical assistance to customers.
- Support software configuration, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
- Escalate complex issues to the Head Office technical team when necessary.
- Travel & Site Visits
- Travel extensively to customer locations as assigned.
- Respond to emergency service calls whenever required.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned service activities.
- Performance Expectations (KPIs)
- Achieve high first-time fix rates.
- Meet preventive maintenance schedules.
- Improve AMC renewal percentage.
- Reduce customer downtime.
- Achieve spare parts and service revenue targets.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction scores.
