Job Description

A manufacturing product designer needs a mix of technical know-how, material science, and practical problem-solving. Key skills include 3D CAD modeling, material selection, and understanding manufacturing processes.

Technical skill

CAD Software: Using tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360 to build exact 3D models.

Manufacturing Processes: Knowing how things are made through injection molding, machining, metal casting, or 3D printing.

Materials Science: Choosing the right plastics, metals, or composites based on strength, cost, and durability.

Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Adjusting designs so they are easy, cost-effective, and efficient to produce on a factory line.

Ergonomics & Tolerancing: Factoring in human body measurements for usability alongside strict dimensional limits.
